Voyage to the Heart of the Amazon: 7 Days

Duration
7 Days
Prices From:
US$ 4,045

Far from the beaches of Rio, this Brazil tour takes you to explore the world’s largest rainforest, one filled with adventure, beauty and biodiversity.

This 7-day Amazon tour departs from Manaus, then combines escorted tours on land and water to make sure you see the widest possible range of forest life.

Keep your eyes peeled for river dolphins throughout your trip. Then go ashore in the early morning and at dusk to see the land-based fauna at its most active. Howler Monkeys are a common sighting, along with colourful Toucans and other birds. You’ll also embark on a night tour to see the nocturnal Amazon at play. Later tours take you up into hidden streams and off-branches of the river in search of some of the area’s most unusual creatures. While nature provides the highlights, you’ll also enjoy superb hospitality onboard the M/Y Tucano. Sip a refreshing Caipirinha, or find your rhythm at an impromptu samba session under a blanket of stars. Even the waters themselves are diverse. You’ll visit Encontra das Aguas, where the brown Amazon meets the dark waters of the River Negro, before you depart.

Itinerary

Day 1

Embark M/Y Tucano

Your guide will meet you at 7:00 am in the reception area of the Hotel Tropical in Manaus.

Early this morning all guests board the vessel the Motor Yacht Tucano and depart upstream on the Rio Negro. Through the morning you will cruise through the world's largest river island system, the Anavilhanas Archipelago. From the observation deck you scan the magnificent tangle of vegetation at the water's edge.

By mid-afternoon the vessel has gone beyond the frontier of settlement and entered a wilderness area. Both shores are covered by dense rainforest. Though one cannot predict what you will see, you have a good chance of observing pink river dolphins and a large collection of exotic birds. Most certainly you will be treated to magnificent forest vistas and the spectacular trees themselves. In the late afternoon you embark in the launches and hunt for wildlife. You may also go for a swim in some of the world's most clean and refreshing water.
