Wonders of Peru Small Group Tour - 2022

Duration
7 Days
Prices From:
US$ 1,249

MODERATE | SMALL GROUP: Explore cosmopolitan Lima and its historic corridors before connecting to Cusco. Descend into the Sacred Valley to visit Inca towns and ruins before you tour Machu Picchu, the Lost Citadel of the Incas.

This 7-day Peruvian vacation takes you to Lima, Cusco, the Sacred Valley of the Incas, and Machu Picchu. It features first-class accommodations and small group tours.

Your journey begins in Lima, the Peruvian capital and a city often unfairly dismissed as a mere entry and exit point for the country. However, Lima offers much more to any traveller willing to explore its historic streets. A city tour introduces you to the highlights. Visit Miraflores and San Isidro, trendy upscale neighbourhoods along the coast, and home to pre-Incan archaeological sites. Then connect to Lima District to see the colonial palaces, convents, and churches built during the time of the city’s founding. Fly to Cusco, the former Incan capital, where you’ll acclimate to the high altitude. Then transfer to the Sacred Valley of the Incas to explore Chinchero and Ollantaytambo. In Chinchero, immerse yourself in the local culture and admire Inca ruins, Andean houses, and beautiful handcrafted textiles. Continue to Ollantaytambo, a living Inca town, where you’ll explore the imposing Inca fortress that lies on the mountainside and bears the town’s name.

Time to visit the centrepiece of your Peruvian vacation: majestic Machu Picchu. The Lost Citadel of the Incas lay abandoned for centuries until rediscovery in the early 20th century. Today, you’ll explore this wonder of the world. Ride the train to Aguas Calientes, where you’ll transfer to a shuttle bus up the mountain to visit the ruins. Explore the mountain fortification in detail, learning about the history of the people that built it and the unanswered questions about its abandonment. While touring, you’ll also enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and a magical atmosphere that is completely unique. Afterwards, ride the train back to Ollantaytambo and connect back to Cusco for another day at leisure to explore the “Navel of the World.”

At the end of your stay, connect back to the airport for onward travels.
