Capitals of Scandinavia

Duration
10 Days
Prices From:

Can’t decide on a destination for that Scandinavia city break? Or perhaps you just want to see the big cities? This is your perfect short Scandinavia tour, featuring Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm, and Helsinki.

This 10-day trip through four of the world’s most liveable cities will enchant you with the best of Scandinavian culture, and thrill you with energy of its urban centres.

Start in Copenhagen, where a statue of a Little Mermaid on a rock is just the beginning of all there is to see. You’ll enjoy a three hour guided tour that travels by both bus and boat. See the changing of the guard, Tivoli, the Gejion Fountain, and Christiansborg Palace, then admire the city’s beauty from the water – arguably the best way – as you glide along the canals of Christianhavn and Frederiksholm. You’ll no doubt find a part of the city that you want to explore in detail, so enjoy a day at leisure to pick up any sights you’ve missed, before embarking on your overnight cruise to Oslo.

Welcome to Oslo, where your first view of the city comes from the water, approaching through the fantastic Oslo Fjord. You’ll have most of your first day to explore at will, while your second day includes a half-day tour that visits Vigeland Sculpture Park, Holmenkollen Ski Jump, and the Viking Ship Museum. With your free time, you may wish to immerse yourself in the art of Norway, including the Edvard Munch museum.

All aboard the train for Stockholm! A half-day sightseeing tour takes you to the best known sights before you transfer to a boat for a sail around Djurgarden and the Stockholm Archipelago. With your spare time, perhaps visit the open air museum of Skansen, the Vasamuseet, home to the massive Viking warship Vasa, or the newly opened ABBA museum, for a kitschy but fun few hours dedicated to Sweden’s biggest musical export.

Take an overnight cruise to Helsinki, the most remote and mysterious of the Nordic capitals. Awaiting you is a gorgeous city where Scandinavian and Russian influences come together in architecture, food, and culture. A half-day tour gets you around the major sights, including the Parliament, Presidential Hall, Finlandia Hall, and the Sibelius Monument. Then perhaps do as the locals do and relax at one of the city’s ubiquitous saunas.
