Classic British Isles: Dublin, Edinburgh & London

Duration
9 Days
Prices From:
US$ 2,209

FIRST-CLASS | TAILOR-MADE: Explore three great capitals of the British Isles, passing from Dublin to Edinburgh to London to look upon the Book of Kells at Trinity College Library, summit towering Edinburgh Castle on Castle Rock, and see the Tower of London, Big Ben, and Buckingham Castle in the heart of the United Kingdom.

This 9-day European vacation takes you across the British Isles, from Dublin to Edinburgh to London.

Your British Isles vacation begins in Dublin, the Irish capital and one of the friendliest cities you'll ever visit. Dublin was once thought of as the loveliest city in Europe and while its gorgeous Georgian architecture has begun to show its age, the city hasn't lost any of its charm. Take advantage of the Hop-On Hop-Off bus tour to see some of the most popular city spots, like Trinity College Library, which houses the incredible Book of Kells, a 9th-century illuminated manuscript of the Gospels, and the Dublin Docklands, ground zero for the city's urban revitalization. You'll also spend a day visiting the Guinness Storehouse, which recounts the history of the world's most famous stout and lets you enjoy a pint while you're at it.

Fly from Dublin to Edinburgh, the Scottish capital that's awash with medieval and Georgian architecture. Glasgow might be larger, but Edinburgh remains the most popular city in Scotland for lovers of history. Use the Hop-On Hop-Off bus tour to dart around the city's hills, visiting the medieval Old Town and Georgian New Town as well as Holyrood Palace and Calton Hill with its series of monuments and gorgeous views. You'll also head to the city's crowning achievement, Edinburgh Castle, which towers over the city from Castle Rock. A tour of the castle will show you the famed Stone of Destiny and let you enjoy the best views of the city below.

Close out your England vacation by heading to London, one of the most visited cities on the planet and the capital of the United Kingdom. With history reaching back to Roman times, you'll find plenty of great historical sites and culture in London. Once again, use a Hop-On Hop-Off bus tour to zip between the popular sites, such as the Tower of London, Big Ben, and Buckingham Palace. Visit the British Museum to gaze upon Egyptian mummies and see the resting places of past kings, queens, and great artists and scientists at Westminster Abbey. Ride the Coca Cola London Eye up 135m to enjoy 360° views of London. The next day, take a walking tour to explore the filming locations of the Harry Potter series, heading from the real-life Diagon Alley to Platform 9 ¾ at King's Cross Station. Also, be sure to enjoy some famous fish and chips to get the full London experience.

Consider adding a few more days in London to see all that this incredible city has to offer.

Admission Ticket to Guinness Storehouse

The Guinness Brewery in Dublin is Europe's largest stout producing brewery and home to the Guinness Storehouse. Opened in 1904, the Storehouse was an operational plant for fermenting and storing Guinness. Today it houses a very fine exhibition dedicated to the Guinness story. Visitors will discover what goes into the making a pint of Guinness - the ingredients, the brewing process, the time, the craft and the passion. The exhibition shows how the brew has been marketed and how it is today sold in over 150 countries. Once the tour has finished, the guest is invited to the Gravity Bar to enjoy their pint of Guinness. Regular demonstrations on the art of pulling a pint of Guinness also take place in the Storehouse. Launched on the fifth floor in 2011, "Five" at Guinness Storehouse, includes a small replica authentic Irish Bar, an 18th Century inspired Brewers Dining Hall, and a restaurant named Gilroy's where guests enjoy a Guinness gastronomical experience driven entirely by the Irish tradition of wholesome local produce. Menus include local foods such as Ardsallagh goat's cheese, Irish mussels from Carlingford and the Waterford Blaas bread supplied by MD Bakery in Waterford. This area will host from time to time live cooking demonstrations using Guinness in the recipe and it includes an interactive recipe sharing bank that allows visitors to take Guinness recipe cards home.

The London Eye - Fast Track Entry

At 135 meters (approximately 443 feet), the London Eye is the world's largest cantilevered observation wheel. It was conceived and designed by Marks Barfield Architects and was launched in 2000, and has since won over 85 awards for national and international tourism, outstanding architectural quality and engineering achievement. The observation wheel turns slow enough for people to embark while it is moving, and a complete turn takes about thirty minutes. Thanks to the construction of the glass capsules on the outer side of the rim, you will have a great 360-degree view of London. Many famous landmarks are clearly visible, including Buckingham Palace, St. Paul's Cathedral and the Houses of Parliament. On a clear day, you can see as far as 40 kilometers (approximately 25 miles). Make sure to reserve a specific time in advance as all entries now require a fixed-time reservation. A helpful hint? It's less crowded at night and the views on a clear night are even more spectacular.
