Shrouded in myth and natural beauty, the moors and coastal towns of southwest England are ready to enchant and inspire you. Get out of London and explore the green and rugged landscapes of this delightful country.

This 7-day round trip from London takes you to some of England’s most enchanting regions, including Dartmoor National Park and Cornwall.

Dartmoor National Park feels much like the rural England of storybooks. Ancient bridges, rocky tors, and wild horses define the countryside, which serves as the gateway to rugged Cornwall. Follow the north coast to Port Isaac – also known as Potwenn in the BBC series Doc Martin – among other local villages, with lunch at Rick Stein’s famous ‘The Seafood Restaurant’ in Padstow.

Visit the cliff-face Minack Theatre en route to Falmouth, your home for the next few days. This beautiful town may have lost some of its significance to naval trade, but it has certainly lost none of its appeal to visitors. With a full day to explore, walk in the footsteps of Wind in the Willows creator Kenneth Grahame and other literary figures, or delve into Falmouth’s rich naval history at the National Maritime Museum. If you wish, take the ferry back to the 16th century at St Mawes Castle, or a boat ride along the Fal River.

BRT

You’ll spend the next two days enjoying the high life of Cornwall, visiting the Tregothnan Estate – home to the viscounts of Falmouth – and Buckfast Abbey. Enjoy a farewell dinner in Hawkchurch and explore historic Lyme Regis, before going on to Salisbury, home to the original Magna Carta.

Return to London for departure.
