Let your stomach be your guide as you feast on the wine, food, and beer of Western Europe’s largest nation. Heading from Frankfurt to Munich to Nuremberg, you’ll sample German delicacies, from savoury kasspatzle to iconic bratwurst, and explore some of the most romantic medieval towns in all of Europe.


This 7-day Germany vacation takes you on a culinary tour across Germany from Frankfurt to Munich to Nuremberg.

Your Germany tours begin in Frankfurt, where you’ll start your journey west and south towards Rudesheim and Heidelberg. Pass through the vineyards on the slopes of the Rhine River before reaching Rudesheim where you’ll learn about local wines and sample some vintages. After a lunch of Rheinischer Sauerbraten (vinegar pot roast), head on to Heidelberg, the country’s oldest university town and home to one of the largest pedestrian areas in all of Germany. After a night enjoying the lively atmosphere of Heidelberg, wind through the Black Forest on the way to Lindau. Stop off at the castle Hohenzollern for a lunch of Kasspatzle (pasta with cheese) before reaching the island of Lindau on Lake Constance, where you will enjoy breathtaking views of the Alps and join a wine tasting.

The next day, continue your Germany vacation by leaving the wine region and entering Bavaria, heading for Munich, the state capital. Home to Oktoberfest and Germany’s third-largest city, Munich has a lot to explore during your time here. Get acquainted with its gorgeous medieval architecture in Marienplatz and see the famous clocktower. That evening, head to a local restaurant to dine on iconic Bavarian Schweinshaxe (pork knuckle), following it up with a fresh draught of beer. The next day, embark on a walking beer tour of the city’s many microbreweries, experiencing the many flavours and malts of this world beer capital. You’ll also visit the Hofbrauhaus and the beer museum, and taste more than a few brews along the way.

Pass on to Nuremberg, the second largest city in Bavaria and one of the country’s most important political centres. In Nuremberg, you’ll join a baking class to hear stories about German cuisine and learn to make famous Nuremberg gingerbread. The next day, explore the city’s historic old town, admiring the Gothic churches, medieval houses, and preserved castles, including the Kaiserburg. After touring the old town, join another cooking class to learn how to prepare famous Bavarian bratwursts in multiple ways.

On the final leg of your travel to Germany, you’ll head to Rothenburg, one of the oldest and most beautiful cities in the region. Enjoy a sightseeing tour through the medieval old town and cap off your time in Germany with a lunch of famous potato dumplings. You’ll then return to Frankfurt for your flight home or to continue your onward journey.

Day 1

Frankfurt to Rudesheim to Heidelberg

The first day of your culinary tour through Germany leads you to the southwestern part of Germany. On the way from Frankfurt to Rüdesheim you see vineyards on the slopes of the Rhine river, Germany's longest river. In Rudesheim you will visit a wine museum and taste the regional wine (March-October). After that it is time for a delicious lunch, including the "Rheinischer Sauerbraten" (pot roast marinated in vinegar). The dish is typical for the regions along the Rhine River. In the afternoon continue to Heidelberg, Germany's oldest university town.

Day 2

Heidelberg to Hohenzollern to Lake Constance

In the morning travel from Heidelberg to Lindau. The road winds its way through the Black Forest. Stop at the castle Hohenzollern where you can try a real Swabian specialty: "Kasspatzle", a special type of pasta with cheese. Afterwards continue to the small island of Lindau in Lake Constance, which offers spectacular views of the Alps. In the evening enjoy a wine tasting near the lake where you can taste different types of regional wines. The surroundings of Lake Constance are not only famous for wine but also for its fruit plantations such as apples and pears.

Day 3

Lake Constance to Munich

Today you leave Germany's wine region and reach the capital of Bavaria, famous for its beer culture as well as for hearty meals. Upon arrival in Munich enjoy a sightseeing tour of the city including the most famous attractions such as the elegant Marienplatz with its famous clock tower. In the evening you have a real Bavarian experience: dinner at a local and authentic Bavarian restaurant where you can try a Bavarian "Schweinshaxe" (pork knuckle) with freshly drafted beer.

Day 4

Munich

Today enjoy a "Munich Beer Tour". During this walking tour you visit micro-breweries where you can try different types of beer. You also visit the famous Viktualienmarkt, a big street market with a huge variety of fresh food and delicatessen. You also see the famous Hofbrauhaus and a beer museum. The tour offers interesting facts about the history of German beer.

Day 5

Munich to Nuremberg

After breakfast travel to Nuremberg, located in Franconia. Nuremberg offers various culinary highlights. Today you join a baking class where you hear stories and secrets of Nuremberg´s gingerbread and make your own batch, based on a special recipe to take home and enjoy alone or with friends and family - from Nuremberg with love. Gingerbread is so much more than a Franconian cookie. With its scrumptious spices, honey, and a plethora of nuts, it was considered a holy food for centuries.

Day 6

Nuremberg

In the morning visit Nuremberg's historic city center and learn more about its impressive history and see the well-preserved castle Kaiserburg, Gothic churches, romantic houses and peaceful squares. During a midday cooking class you have the opportunity to learn about the history of the bratwurst and to rejuvenate this classic Franconian favorite. You prepare a tasty bratwurst salad, bake a crisp bratwurst-sauerkraut pie and cook bratwursts in honeybalsamic sauce. Then you savor the results for lunch. The rest of the day is at your leisure.

Day 7

Nuremberg to Rothenburg to Frankfurt

After breakfast leave the city and head for Rothenburg, one of the oldest and most beautiful cities along the Romantic Road. Sightseeing tour of this lovely medieval town concluding with your last typical German lunch. Franconia is famous for its delicious potato dumplings. The tour ends in Frankfurt.
