DELUXE | PRIVATE-GUIDED: Embark on a deluxe tour of Austria that takes you from Vienna to picturesque highlights like Salzburg and Melk. As you tour the country, you’ll visit Baroque old towns, follow in the footsteps of Mozart and Beethoven, and stay in deluxe accommodations in old castles and manors.

This 8-day Austria vacation takes you to highlights of this Central European country, including the capital, Vienna, and the birthplace of Mozart, Salzburg.

Your trip to Austria begins in Vienna, the nation’s capital and the former seat of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Consistently ranked as one of the world’s most livable cities, Vienna boasts stunning architecture, a robust culinary scene, and one of the world’s great art cultures. On your first night in Vienna, enjoy a romantic candlelit dinner on the Ferris wheel at Prater Amusement Park, dining in a private cabin with incredible views of the city. The next day, head on a sightseeing tour of the city, riding a horse-drawn carriage through its streets to admire the Baroque architecture. Pass by the Hofburg, the grand statement of the Habsburgs, who ruled the Austrian Empire for six centuries. Visit a museum like the Art History Museum to see paintings by Breughel, Durer, Vermeer, and Rubens, or head to the opera house to take in an evening of live classical music. After taking in the pleasures of the City of Music, travel to the Wachau Valley to explore the scenic landscape along the Danube River.

Head from Krems to Melk and spend a night in Durnstein, where the Austrian Duke Leopold V held King Richard the Lionheart captive during the Middle Ages. Head on a boat cruise along the Danube and overnight at Schloss Durnstein, a medieval castle transformed into a hotel. Tour Melk, one of the most popular towns on the Danube, and visit Melk Abbey, the 11th-century Benedictine Abbey that’s the best example of Baroque architecture in the entire country. Admire the massive Church dome and marble rooms of the abbey before heading into the gorgeous libraries and scriptorium to see hundreds of medieval manuscripts.

Continue your Austria vacation by heading to Salzburg, the beautiful storybook town and birthplace of Mozart. Head on a sightseeing tour through the historic Old Town to see the incredible Baroque domes and spires of the churches and forts, including Hohensalzburg Fortress. Head to the city’s Lake District, Salzkammergut, and take the cable car up to the top of Mt. Zwolferhorn to enjoy breathtaking views of Wolfgangsee Lake. The following day, head to the alpine lake, Worthersee, and visit the border with Italy and Slovenia, where Austrians head during vacation to enjoy the Mediterranean-like climate and friendly rural atmosphere.

Close out your Austria tour by heading to Graz, the student town that’s bustling with museums, galleries, and fashion shops. Tour the old city centre before relaxing in the spa at your hotel in Stegersbach. Spend your final day exploring Stegersbach or climbing Schlossberg to enjoy incredible views of the city before travelling back to Vienna for your flight back home.
