Discover the delicious food and drink of the iconic Scottish capital. After exploring the city’s history, wander through the streets on a small group tour to sample local fare. The next day, head to nearby distilleries to learn about and sample Scotland’s most famous drink: single malt whiskey.

This 4-day Scotland vacation showcases the capital, Edinburgh, and its incredible food scene.

Your Scotland tour takes you to the Scottish capital, a city awash with medieval and Georgian architecture. Glasgow might be larger, but Edinburgh remains the most popular city in Scotland and a great spot for food and history. Use the Hop-On Hop-Off bus tour to dart around the city’s hills, visiting the medieval Old Town and Georgian New Town as well as Holyrood Palace and Calton Hill with its series of monuments and gorgeous views. While in Edinburgh, you’ll enjoy a walking food tour of the city. Learn about the city in the company of an expert guide and enjoy a tasting course of Scottish foods, including Haggis neeps and tatties, charcuterie, and finish it off with a single malt whiskey tasting. The next day, head west to discover more about the national drink of Scotland: single malt whiskey. You’ll tour two distilleries, sample some fine single malt whiskey, and have the opportunity to explore the gorgeous Scottish countryside.

This Scotland vacation makes for a great add-on to trips to London or other parts of the United Kingdom.

Scotland's oldest inhabited Castle - Dalhousie Castle is located in Midlothian Scotland, near the town of Bonnyrigg, just 8 miles from Edinburgh's city centre.

The caste was the seat of the Earls of Dalhousie, the chieftains of Clan Ramsay.

The Castle, which is situated in the parish of Cockpen, eight miles south of Edinburgh, dates from the 13th century, although only the enormously thick walls at the foundation level and the vaults remain, of the original building. The main parts of the present structure were built about 1450 from red stone quarried from the opposite bank of the South Esk River on which the Castle stands. In the succeeding centuries there have been various additions and modifications, but the essential form of the Castle which had an L-shaped keep surrounded by an outer curtain wall can still be clearly discerned.

Discover Malt Whisky

This tour is for lovers of Scotch single malt whisky and for those who would like to know more about the national drink. Discover the secrets behind the making of Scotland's national drink and in particular the best variety of all - single malt whisky. Your tour takes you west from Edinburgh past Stirling to visit the first distillery of the day at Glengoyne. Beautifully situated at the foot of the Campsie Hills, which provide the water supply for the whisky making, the tour here will introduce you to the simple but magical process of turning barley, water and yeast into whisky. From here you will take a scenic drive to the shores of Loch Lomond in the heart of Scotland's first National Park for a tasty pub lunch (own account) and the chance to sample some local beers. After lunch we recommend a short walk to the viewpoint overlooking the loch and all its islands before heading off towards the second distillery of the day at Deanston. This converted cotton mill on the banks of the River Teith has many interesting features and produces some unique flavours in its whisky.
