Discover local traditions and regional foods on this exploration of Florence’s culinary highlights. This trip to Florence includes a visit to the Academy Gallery, where you’ll see Michelangelo’s “David,” a trip to one of the largest open-air markets in Italy, a cooking class, and a private truffle tasting experience.

This 4-day Italy vacation takes you around Florence to experience its culinary delights.

Your trip to Italy showcases Florence, the Tuscan capital and birthplace of the Renaissance. During your time in the city, you’ll explore the gorgeous medieval architecture and artistic masterworks of the city while sampling its incredible food and drink. You’ll stay at a premium hotel in the heart of the city, which gives you easy access to many of its most popular sights.

Spend a day experiencing the world-class food and art of Florence. Begin at the Academy Gallery, where you’ll admire the masterworks of Michelangelo, including his “David,” perhaps the most famous statue in the world. Then stroll to the food market of San Lorenzo to see where Florentine chefs do their shopping. Sample local cheeses and meats, learn to savour the taste of aged balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil, and learn to cook a Florentine T-bone steak. That afternoon, join a small group cooking class to learn to make a four-course Tuscan dinner. Cap off the class by feasting on your creation, paired with a good Tuscan wine, of course. The next day, enjoy a private truffle tasting, where you’ll learn about the truffle hunt and get to taste white and black truffles and truffle-infused oils. By the end of the tasting, you’ll be an expert on this treasured Italian delicacy. At the end of your time in Florence, head to the train station to continue your onward journey.

This culinary trip to Florence makes for a great addition to a longer Italy vacation.

It's an integral part of local life, a great place to find bargains or just browse around the wide variety of stalls: it's where the real Florentines do their food shopping! Visit the local shops known for their historic reputation among local people and connosseur and taste different kinds of cold cuts such as prosciutto and salame toscano, pecorino cheese and the most famous Parmigiano Reggiano.
