The tour to Tartu starts from Tallinn hotel and after about 2.5 hours drive takes in south-east of Estonia in Tartu, the second largest city in Estonia. Throughout the times Tartu has been known as educational and cultural centre of Estonia. The City tour starts with sightseeing tour of Tartu city centre including also Supilinn (Soup Town) and Karlova, which can be considered as particularly fascinating districts because of their special wooden architecture buildings some of which derive from the 19th century. Visiting different districts of Tartu gives an overview of the diverse lifestyles that merge in the city. Further to Town Hall square, from where walking tour starts, which includes the main building of the University of Tartu, St John's Church (entrance), which belongs to the UNESCO World Heritage due to its terracotta sculptures, St Anthony's Guild, which is the centre of handicraftsmen, and Tartu Toy Museum. Onwards to the Dome Hill, which was the centre of the bishop's court during the middle ages, at the centre of which towered a large Catholic dome cathedral. Now the University of Tartu History Museum is situated in the cathedral. A sacrificial place and a sacrificial stone of ancient Estonians, the Kissing Hill, the statues of famous Estonian and Baltic German scholars, scientists and writers who have played significant role in the Estonian culture and the building of the State Court are also situated on the Dome Hill. Further walking tour continues to the Angel's Bridge in order to enjoy the view of down town and access Old Anatomicum and Tartu Observatory. Return to Tallinn.
