Faroe Islands for Beginners - Torshavn to Torshavn

Duration
6 Days
Prices From:
US$ 2,511

This is the tour for the first-time visitor to the Faroe Islands. We have put together a program that has a local guide showing you around the rich natural and cultural sights providing a real insight into the Faroese community.

This 6-day trip through the Faroe Islands includes all local transportation and accommodation, along with excursions and entrance fees to help you uncover the best of this unique archipelago.

Begin on Vagar Island with a guided tour, before transferring to Torshavn for your first night. You’ll go on from here to Vestmanna, your base for the next two nights, offering some great sightseeing, history, and bird-watching. You’ll board a boat tour, bound for the Vestmanna bird cliffs. You can also visit the saga museum to get a feel for the Faroes’ Viking heritage. Local villages and delicious meals round out the day. The following day, visit the mountainous islands of Bordoy and Dunoy and take in the awesome natural landscape.

Pass the Faroes’ highest peak as you weave your way back to Torshavn. Along the way, you’ll visit the towns of Tjornuvik and Saksun, and see the old whaling station that once powered much of the Faroes’ economy. On your last full day here, explore Torshavn itself. The town is home to one of the world’s oldest parliaments, along with Fort Skansin, historic Kirkjubour, and 900 year-old Roykstovan. You’ll have free time to explore, and choose your own spot for dinner. In the morning, visit Bosdalafossur waterfall before transferring to the airport.
