MODERATE | TAILOR-MADE: Combine a stay in Bonnie Scotland’s vibrant and cultural city with a day to explore Glasgow on a Hop On Hop Off bus with two days of touring the Scottish Highlands including Stirling Castle, the Trossachs, Loch Lomond and Loch Ness.
AT YOUR SERVICE. This is a great idea for experiencing Glasgow where you can choose your preferred level of accommodation. It can, of course, be modified and/or extended. As we are experts in customizing itineraries to suit your personal interests, time available and budget, we at Goway are at your service!
Using Glasgow as your base, discover the truly wonderful scenery of the Scottish Highlands. Start with a day to visit the highlights of Glasgow on a Hop On Hop Off bus tour which allows you to go anywhere on its 28 different stops. The city is best known for its excellent shopping, parks, museums and architecture. Some of the highlights to consider are the City Centre which offers outstanding Victorian and Edwardian buildings, Bath Street, a neighbourhood which has a mix of independent shops and bars as well as distinctive Georgian town house style architecture, the West End, a neighbourhood area of cafés, restaurants and bars surrounding the University of Glasgow with its lovely architecture, tree lined streets and quaint shopping areas and the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum which houses one of Europe's great art collections... The University of Glasgow's Hunterian, the oldest museum in Scotland, includes the Hunterian Museum, the Hunterian Art Gallery, the Mackintosh House, the Zoology Museum and the Anatomy Museum.
The next day brings a tour to the Central Highlands. Start with a visit to Stirling Castle, one of the largest and most important in Scotland and former residence of Stuart Kings. Then continue to the Trossachs, a forest-covered wooded area of glens. It was the home of Rob Roy MacGregor, the Scottish outlaw. Then visit the beautiful Loch Lomond and the National Park Centre. From here, walk a little on the West Highland Way to a hilltop which gives you outstanding views of the loch and surrounding area. On the way back to Glasgow, stop at the malt whisky distillery of Glengoyne for a tour and a tasting.
The following morning, head to the district of Glencoe, the scene of the massacre of the Macdonalds by the Campbells in 1692. Glencoe is surrounded by spectacular mountain scenery. Continue to Fort William and then along the beginning of the “Great Glen” and the Caledonian Canal to Loch Ness. Have a cruise on the loch looking out for the fabled “Nessie”, the Loch Ness monster. Then travel the length of Loch Ness to Inverness. From here, return to Glasgow through the wild and rugged Cairngorms National Park.
STAY LONGER IN GLASGOW. This idea can be extended and/or modified: Go to Day Trips for some ideas. They are just a sample as we can personalize your stay according to your interests, time available and budget. We look forward to being of service and organizing an awesome travel experience…for you!
