Highlights of France Small Group: Paris to Aix

Duration
9 Days
Prices:
On request

See the best of a timeless country on this France tour. Start in Paris, the world’s most romantic capital, then make your way through Dijon, Avignon, and Provence, with an idyllic chateau stay en route.

On this Europe tour, small group means small group. With an average of 10 participants, and a maximum of 16 on each departure, you’ll feel less like a tourist and more like a traveller, discovering Europe with friends at your side.

This 9-day French adventure starts in Paris, making its way down to the Cote d’Azur.

No major city on earth captures the romantic allure of Paris. A city defined by fashion, romance, art, and fine cuisine, your journey starts here with a full day to explore at leisure. Lose a couple of hours at the Louvre, or enrich your senses with more art at the Musee d’Orsay or the Rodin Museum. Zip to the top of the Eiffel Tower, or shop along the famous Champs Elysees, catching a glimpse of the Arc de Triomphe. There are many different sides to Paris, so use this day to explore the one that interests you the most.

From the buzzing capital to the French countryside, spend the night at a charming French chateau, sampling delicious local cuisine, and exploring the medieval village of Chateuneuf-en-Auxois. Then uncover more flavours of France as you travel through Dijon and Beune. Beune is often called the wine capital in a country where competition is fierce. Enjoy lunch at a Michelin-recommended restaurant, and enjoy a wine tasting.

Having supped and dined of France’s best, it’s on to Avignon, one of the most picturesque journeys in France. Visit the Pope’s Palace, the St Benezet Bridge, and consider a day trip to Arles, where a significant number of Roman monuments remain.

Finally, your journey ends on the French Riviera, at Aix-en-Provence. Though synonymous with the high lives of the rich and famous, this part of the Riviera boasts Roman ruins, medieval streets, 16th century manors, and spectacular museums and galleries, so there is plenty to inspire the traveller, no matter what their interest or budget.

Arrive Paris

Bonjour! Welcome to Paris, France. Your adventure begins with a welcome meeting, which is usually at around 6 pm. Please look for a note in the hotel lobby or ask the hotel reception where it will take place. If you're going to be late, please inform the hotel reception. We'll be collecting your insurance details and next of kin information at this meeting, so please ensure you have all these details to provide to your leader. After the meeting, head out for dinner with your new travel companions in a local Parisian restaurant. If you arrive early into the city, Paris offers a wealth of major sights and things to do. Wandering around the Champs-Elysees, the student-filled Latin Quarter and the bohemian Montmartre will give you a good feel for the city.
Notes: If you can't arrange a flight that will arrive in time, you may wish to arrive a day early so you're able to attend the meeting. We'll be happy to book additional accommodation for you (subject to availability).
