Explore one of the oldest cities in France on this city stay in Marseille. Stay in first-class accommodations and join small group tours that take you throughout the city and to nearby UNESCO-listed landmarks like the palaces of Avignon and the Roman aqueduct of Pont du Gard.

This 4-day French vacation showcases Marseille, the second-largest city in the country. It features first-class accommodations, small-group tours, and is a perfect addition to a longer journey through France.

Marseille has been a key port city since the times of the Greek and Roman Empires. Today, it’s France’s most important port city and the centre of Provence. Staying in a first-class hotel walking distance from the Vieux-Port, you’ll explore the city and the surrounding countryside. Begin with a tour of the nearby ancient fishing port of Cassis, where you can explore the village or head on a boat trip to nearby coves and beaches. Afterwards, tour Marseille to see the Notre-Dame de la Garde Basilica and the 11th-century Saint-Victor Abbey near the Vieux-Port. The next day, tour several UNESCO-listed sites in Provence. Start in Avignon, home to the popes during the Middle Ages, where you’ll see the Saint-enezet Bridge and the Pope’s Palace. Continue to the Roman aqueduct of Pont du Gard before heading into the Alipilles Mountains and touring the village of Les Baux de Provence.

At the end of your stay, head to the airport or seaport to connect to your next destination.

Small Group Marseille and Cassis Tour

The Gineste and the Crests roads will lead you to the outstanding site of Cape Canaille from where you will appreciate the exceptional view on the bay of Cassis and the Gardiole mountain range.
Cassis is a very ancient fishing port and the harbour is probably the most beautiful part of the village. You can board on a 45-minute boat trip (ticket not included) to discover 3 Calanques, steep-walled coves with tiny harbours or beaches at the end.
Panoramic tour of the city of Marseille on the way back, including a photo stop at Notre-Dame de la Garde Basilica. From this hill, enjoy a breathtaking view on the Phocaean city, the Frioul islands and If Castle. Drive on the Corniche Road, a symbol of holiday and outward sign of wealth for merchants and bourgeois from the 19th century who built magnificent houses with many ostentatious splendid features. You will then reach the 11th century Saint-Victor Abbey that guards the entry of the Vieux-Port (Old Port).
