Take in the 19th Century Placa de la Independencia and the cobblestone meandering streets. Then continue to the spectacular medieval coastal village of El Port de la Selva where you will spend the next 3 nights.

Using El Port de la Selva as a base, travel to Port Lligat where you will visit the Salvador Dali House-Museum, a series of fishermen’s cottages, with its workshop, library and gardens. Later continue to Cadaques, the charming attractive resort favoured by artists. Explore the resort with its many boutiques and galleries.

The next day is at leisure to enjoy the resort. Consider the walking trails in Cap de Creus National Park with its astoundingly beautiful views of the Bay of Cadaques and also of nearby France.

The next morning, head west through the mountains with stops at the medieval village of Besalu with its Romanesque architecture and Ripoli with its Benedictine monastery, Santa Maria de Ripoli, one of the most famous medieval monasteries in Catalonia. Eventually arrive in the town of Barbastro for overnight.

Continue the following day through the rolling hills of Navarre to the medieval town of Olite with its fairy tale 15th Century castle affording magnificent views of the surrounding area. Then continue to the fortified town of Estella before eventually arriving in the La Rioja wine region with a 2 night stay in the old walled city of La Guardia surrounded by vineyards.

While here, you will have a day visiting some of the wineries in the region including the famed Marques de Riscal winery.

Leaving La Guardia, head north to the “Jewel of Northern Spain’s Basque Country”, San Sebastian, a very sophisticated picturesque resort with a very attractive shoreline. En route, you will stop in Gatara for a tasting of Txakoli, the local sparkling wine. In San Sebastian, you will have free time to explore the old section of the resort. Overnight in San Sebastian.

The town's Parador is located within stone walls that conceal medieval treasures, in a section of the majestic Palace-Castle of Olite, which has been declared a national monument. The hotel common areas and some of the guest rooms are located inside the palace, where the interior offers amazing stained glass windows, arcades and other characteristic medieval features. The palace is the most important example of Gothic non-ecclesiastical architecture in Navarre, and one of the most outstanding in Europe.
