Experience the striking waterways of Norway on this journey along the fjords. Passing from Bergen to Trondheim, you’ll follow in the footsteps of the Vikings as you cruise along the northern waterways and explore the striking landscape of this Nordic country.
This 3-day Norway cruise takes you along the fjords to see some of Norway’s most picturesque sights, including Bergen and Trondheim.
Your Norway vacation begins in Bergen, Norway’s most beautiful city. Spend some time before boarding your cruise ship to explore this popular city, taking in the sites like St. Mary’s Church, the Fish and Flower Market, or Haakon’s Hall. Be sure to visit the colourful gabled pack houses of Bryggen, the UNESCO World Heritage Site that sits along the harbour. You’ll then board MS Spitsbergen to travel north along the fjords and explore the waterways of this Nordic country.
The MS Spitsbergen is Hurtigruten’s newest vessel, a modern ship aiming for low-environmental impact and on-board comforts. The on-board Expedition Team will give you the lowdown on the sites you visit, while the attractive cabins and leisure amenities like the sauna and lounge will make sure you stay comfortable during your journey.
Begin your fjord cruise by heading north along the Hjeltefjord, following a route the Vikings took during the Middle Ages on route to the Shetland Islands. Pass onto the Nordfjord and continue north, sailing past the West Cape and alongside skerries and islands before reaching Alesund. If you’re travelling in summer, you’ll head on an excursion along the Geirangerfjord, to see the 800m cliffs, towering waterfalls, and enjoy the “Taste of Norway” hiking excursion through the Sunnmore Alps. If you’re visiting in winter, you’ll enjoy the dancing colours of the Northern Lights as you cruise beneath the night sky.
At the end of your fjord journey lies Trondheim, the centre of all things Viking in the country. You can explore the main sites of the city, such as Nidaros Cathedral, or go kayaking along the Nid River or hike through the Bakkland District. If you happen to visit in autumn, you can enjoy a day trip to Munkholmen, which has changed from an execution site to a Benedictine Monastery to a fortress and prison over the past 1,000 years. You’ll then connect to the airport for your flight home.

Floro - Molde
If you wake up early the next day you have the chance to enjoy the breathtaking beauty of the Nordfjord, followed by a delicious breakfast. As we sail past the West Cape, we experience a rare venture into open sea. Then the ship navigates through skerries and islands before reaching Alesund.
In the summer months we set course for the spectacular UNESCO - listed Geirangerfjord passing sheer, 800m cliffs and impressive waterfalls en route. In autumn we explore Hjorundfjord, situated amidst the majestic Sunnmore Alps. In addition to the excursion "A taste of Norway", we offer two new mountain hikes here. Its seclusion and unspoiled natural landscape give this fjord its special character. In winter you can enjoy a colourful and enlightening presentation about the Aurora Borealis on board.

Kristiansund - Trondheim
Today you wake up in beautiful Trondheim. The architecture and surroundings in Trondheim create a beautiful and almost mythical setting for any outing, whether you prefer a guided tour of the Nidaros Cathedral, kayaking on the river Nid and into the city's smaller channels, or a casual walk or by bicycle through the Bakkland district. In autumn you can join the trip out to Munkholmen. Originally this was an ancient place of execution, before becoming a Benedictine monastery around the year 1000. In 1658 it was made into a fortress and prison, and later a customs station.
