Iceland: Volcanoes, Glaciers and Culture

6 Days
Prices From:
US$ 2,663

DELUXE | PRIVATE-GUIDED: Experience the best of southwestern Iceland in less than a week. Based in Reykjavik, you’ll explore the waterfalls and geysers of the Golden Circle as well as the black-sand beaches of the South Shore. This vacation also includes museum tours and a dip in the thermal waters of the Blue Lagoon.

This 6-day Icelandic vacation takes you to Reykjavik to explore the capital, the Golden Circle, and the South Shore of this Atlantic nation. It features deluxe accommodations and a mix of private and small group tours.

Your Iceland vacation centres on Reykjavik, the northernmost capital in the world and one of the quirkiest, smallest, and most walkable major cities you’re ever likely to visit. After connecting from Keflavik Airport and settling into your hotel, you’ll head to FlyOver Iceland for a virtual journey across Iceland where you’re suspended atop a moving screen that glides over the entirety of the island nation. The next day, you’ll explore the Golden Circle, the country’s most famous tourist route. During your journey, you’ll visit Thingvellir National Park, the former seat of the Icelandic parliament and the meeting point between the tectonic plates of Eurasia and North America, Geysir, with its bubbling mud pools and towering geysers, and Gullfoss, one of the largest waterfalls in the country. Another day, explore the black sand beaches of the South Shore and stroll behind waterfalls as you stop off at Skogafoss and Slejalandsfoss. You’ll also head on a glacier walk across Solheimajokull to explore the icy landscape.

Back in Reykjavik, you’ll spend a day at the Perlan, one of the nation’s top museums and a remarkable exhibition that transforms old water tanks into an interactive exhibit on glaciers and the natural landscape of the island. The rest of your time in Reykjavik is at leisure. You can book a whale-watching excursion out onto the bay, explore nearby Viking landmarks, or tour ice caves and lava holes. You’ll also stop by the Blue Lagoon, a remarkable spa and hot spring that offers the perfect refresh before boarding your flight.

After recharging at the Blue Lagoon, connect back to the airport and continue to your next destination.
