Iceland Winter Gems: Self Drive

Duration
4 Days
Prices From:
US$ 590

In action-packed 4 days, experience some of Iceland’s exciting natural wonders close to Reykjavik. Drive independently and leisurely with a pre arranged itinerary while viewing thundering waterfalls, spectacular geothermal landscapes and other awe-inspiring natural phenomena.

For the independent minded traveller who likes to make up their own mind as to the itinerary they would enjoy and the pace at which they wish to travel, Goway makes it easy to plan a vacation. Whether it is a self-drive car with pre-booked accommodation or a rental car, we have several suggested itineraries in Iceland which lend themselves perfectly to this type of arrangement. We also offer self-drives in other parts of the world.

After picking up your rental car at Reykjavik airport, the remainder of the day is free. Consider taking the opportunity to visit the nearby Blue Lagoon thermal spa where you can enjoy a dip in the warm thermal mineral rich waters. Overnight in Laugardalur located east of Reykjavik.

The next morning set off on your journey starting with a visit to the Hekla Volcano, one of the most active in Iceland. The area is dotted with spectacular waterfalls including the Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls. You can take an exciting walk behind the latter with its thundering curtain of water. This evening, relax at your hotel in Dyrholaey situated on the south coast of Iceland. You can relax here and soak in the Seljavallalaug geothermal pool hidden in a narrow valley at the foot of a mountain with its 25 metre pool with naturally heated water. Also perhaps see the elusive northern lights here.

Continue the next morning through the countryside to Geysir with its bubbling mud pools and spouting hot springs as well as to the Strokkur geyser. Eventually reach Gullfoss, the “Golden Waterfall”, a spectacular sight when frozen. Finally stop at Thingvellir National Park, the meeting place of Iceland’s ancient parliament. Overnight once again in Laugardalur.

The following morning, head back to Reykjavik airport to return your car rental.

At Goway we are experts at designing personalized itineraries to suit your special interests, tastes and budget. Let us arrange your ultimate travel experience today.
