Duration
4 Days
Prices From:
US$ 1,450

Discover the captivating Greek Islands on this cruise through the Aegean. This Greek vacation takes you to sophisticated Mykonos, the Byzantine archaeological site of Ephesus, verdant Patmos, Heraklion on Crete, and the enchanting island of Santorini.

This 4-day cruise takes you through the Greek Islands, showcasing the grandeur of ancient Greece as well as the natural splendor of the islands. It’s perfect for history buffs and island vacationers alike.

Your Greek vacation through the Aegean begins in Athens, your port of call where you’ll board the Celestyal Olympia, a fully-equipped cruise ship with three restaurants, five bars, and a swimming pool on its top deck. Consisting of around 6,000 islands, of which 227 are inhabited, the Greek Islands have long been an integral part of Greek culture and tradition and continue to attract people from all over the world. Begin with a journey to the beautiful island of Mykonos, with its charming white houses and narrow streets. Spend the evening enjoying the island’s famous nightlife.

The next day, arrive at the Turkish resort of Kusadasi, known for its colourful harbour and vibrant covered bazaar. From Kusadasi, you can embark on an excursion to the famous Byzantine archaeological site of Ephesus, the most famous site of its kind in the Aegean. Afterwards, sail to the island of Patmos to visit its two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the Grotto and the Monastery of St. John

Pass on to Heraklion on the island of Crete, Greece’s largest island. Here you’ll find outstanding architecture ranging from Byzantine to Ottoman. You also have the opportunity to visit Knossos, which is considered Europe’s oldest city and the original home of the Minoan civilization. Amazingly enough, Knossos was only discovered in 1900. In myth, it was also home to the Minotaur, a half-man half-bull creature who lived at the centre of a labyrinth. You’ll be able to learn all about this fascinating myth as you explore Knossos.

Round out your exploration of the Aegean Sea with a visit to Santorini, the Aegean’s crown jewel and one of the most romantic islands in the world. Take the cable car to the top of the island for exceptional views of the island’s white cliffs and volcanic crater. Optionally, you can also tour nearby Aktrotiri, a city which was once buried in a volcanic eruption. That evening, enjoy a spectacular sunset in Oia before returning to Athens the next day.

This cruise across the Aegean Sea is an enchanting journey full of history and natural beauty.

Day 2

Mykonos to Kusadasi and Patmos

From Mykonos you sail overnight to arrive for breakfast in quiet Kusadasi, whose white sand beaches are a stone's throw from the incredible excavation of the ancient city of Ephesus and it's Terrace Houses (one of the world's largest open-air museums), the House of the Virgin Mary, beautiful Sirince Village and the thrilling metropolis of Izmir. Kusadasi is also home to a fantastic harbor-side bazaar where you can find some of the best bargains in the Aegean.

Later today (approximately 4:00pm) you arrive at the holy island of Patmos: many believe John the Apostle wrote the Book of Revelations in a mountainside grotto on Patmos where he heard the voice of God. Further up the mountain, within the white walls of Hora, the monastery founded in his honor in 1088 stands sentinel above this verdant island.

Day 3

Patmos to Crete and Santorini

Early this morning you leave Patmos and sail through another lovely Aegean evening to Heraklion, an ancient Venetian port and the fascinating capital of Crete. Greece's largest island is a paradise of secluded beaches, hiking trails, rivers and archeological marvels, including the Minoan Palace of Knossos and the Archeological Museum in Heraklion. Whatever you do on this mythic island, you'll fall in love with Crete. And don't leave the island without a bottle of Cretan olive oil, the world's finest.

Enjoy a delicious lunch on the pool deck or a traditional Greek coffee at Thalassa Bar, on Deck 10, the Aegean burning blue beneath you as you sail from Heraklion for an evening on incredible Santorini. The island's cliffs rise from the Aegean like a dream. Take a jeep safari into the interior or a cruise to Santorini's smaller islands and volcanoes, visit the Akrotiri Village excavations, or just sit in a cafe in spectacular Oia Village and watch the sunset from 300 meters above the azure sea.
