This 7-day cruise itinerary through Italy starts in one of the country’s signature destinations, beautiful Venice. Then immerse yourself in Renaissance wonder, finally disembarking in Mantua.

A tiny city with an enormous reputation, Venice is one of the world’s most unique destinations. It’s packed with clichés – most of them true – yet still manages to surprise. After transferring to your vessel, La Bella Vita, cruise along the Giudecca Canala and take in the city’s most famous monuments from the water. Then take a late afternoon stroll through St Mark’s Square, and the Doge’s Palace. A second day takes you through the less touristy parts of the city including the Castello District before setting sail for the islands separating Venice from the Adriatic Sea.

Pull back the curtain on Goldoni’s plays in Chioggia then discover Italy’s natural charms, exploring the wetlands of the Po Delta. Travel upstream to the ancient town of Adria, where you’ll visit the Archaeological Museum. The afternoon is spent enjoying a private wine tasting at Bagnoli Estate, a centuries old supplier of Venetian society.

Immerse yourself in Renaissance splendour in Ferrara, a city crafted in fine 14th and 15th century architecture and frescoes. Finally, set sail for the lakeside town of Mantua, home of the poet Virgil, and the artists Mantegna and Donatello. Though the power of the Gonzaga family is long gone, this lovely town still holds the 14th century Ducal Palace and the Gallery of Mirrors among its treasure chest of Renaissance art.

Return to Venice for your departing flight.
