Then, visit the pilgrimage city of Fatima, the big waves of Nazare, and the medieval town of Obidos.

Spend 4 days exploring Portugal's lovely capital, returning each night to the luxurious Pousada de Lisboa. Included is a day excursion to Central Portugal's most memorable cities, including Obidos, Fatima, and Nazare.

Set upon seven hills, Lisbon is one of Europe's great capital cities. Begin with a privately escorted city tour, on which you'll explore Edward VII park, Liberty Avenue and Rossio Square before diving into the perfectly preserved medieval district of Alfama. See Lisbon's Se (cathedral), and Blackhorse Square, then go on to Belem. It's from here that Portuguese caravels set out on their voyages of trade and exploration. Today, it remains home to the beautiful Jermoinos Monastery, and the Tower of Belem.

The following day, your private guide takes you north to some of Portugal's most famous and beautiful towns, beginning with Fatima, a religious pilgrimage site where three children are believed to have seen the Virgin Mary. Next, you head for the coast and Nazare, home to some of the world's largest waves, before turning back inland to Obidos, the delightful walled city perfectly captures the beauty of Portugal's countryside. Be sure to try a shot of ginja, the local cherry based liqueur before you return to Lisbon.

Pousada de Lisboa

Located in Terreiro do Paco - Praça do Comercio, a historic part of the city of Lisbon, is now born a new lodging in Praca do Comercio. Historic place of unique importance, this was the place where for centuries ships with goods disembarked. Totally destroyed after the 1755 earthquake, it was Marques de Pombal the one who gave the order to rebuild almost the entire Lisbon. This is one of the most emblematic places of the city and there are several exit points from here that allow you to visit the rest of Lisbon, walk alongside the Tejo or even cross the river bank. If Lisbon was born at the castle, it was from the Terreiro do Paco (Palace Square) that it expanded. Augusta Street is the main artery that connects the Commerce Square to the beautiful Rossio Square.

Day 3

Private Full Day Fatima, Nazare and Obidos

Depart from Lisbon and head north towards the Center of Portugal and discover three of the most exciting regions: Fatima, Nazare and Obidos. Fatima, the religious capital of Portugal and its Sanctuary, is known worldwide as the pilgrimage place where Our Lady of Fatima appeared in 1917. Be impressed by the grand Sanctuary and spiritual atmosphere. Just outside Fatime, in Aljustrel, visit the houses of Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta (the three little children that the Lady appeared). After, you will continue to the most picturesque fishing village and seaside resort of Nazare which still preserves some of the old fishing traditions. Make your way up to the Sitio da Nazare, perched on a cliff overlooking the town and offering a breathtaking panorama over both land and sea. In the afternoon, proceed to the medieval walled Town of Obidos, where you can admire the harmony of the architecture, the diversity of the handicrafts, known by its typical white houses, flowered windows and narrow streets paved with beautiful stone. Perhaps taste the typical Ginja (sour cherry liquor) in a chocolate cup.
