AT YOUR SERVICE. This is a great idea for experiencing London where you can choose your preferred level of accommodation. It can, of course, be modified and/or extended. As we are experts in customizing itineraries to suit your personal interests, time available and budget, we at Goway are at your service!

This 5-day London escape focuses on the city’s palaces and other Anglophile treats such as the village used in the TV series Downton Abbey.

The literary neighbourhood of Bloomsbury puts you close to Covent Garden, the West End, and the British Museum. Consider an extra day or two before the start of the itinerary, particularly if this is your first time in London. On day two, it’s off to Kensington Palace! This is the official London residence of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Harry, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke and Duchess of Kent, and Prince and Princess Michael of Kent. You’ll tour the state rooms, and have time to explore the famous gardens.

Your third day is packed with London icons, starting with a driving tour that takes you past Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, the London Eye, and the Royal Albert Hall. Hampton Court Palace however, will be a highlight of your trip. One of only two surviving palaces owned by King Henry VIII, Hampton Court is known for its intricate architecture, art collection, and exquisite gardens. Pass through Anne Boleyn’s gate and admire the astronomical clock. Your final stop for the day is Windsor Castle, still an Official Residence of the Queen, and a 900 year old icon of British majesty. Explore the castle grounds, not forgetting St George’s Chapel, last resting place of Henry VIII and his third wife, Jane Seymour.

On your last full day of touring, leave London behind and explore the countryside. Start at Blenheim Palace, one of the few designated ‘palaces’ with no connection to the royal family. Nonetheless, it’s one of Britain’s most impressive buildings, with a fascinating history of its own. Go on to tour the Cotswolds, a stunning area that captures many people’s ideal of rural England. It includes the village of Bampton, made famous by the TV series Downton Abbey, and this side of the town will be covered on your tour as well.

Return to London for departure, or stay an extra few days. No matter how many times you visit, there’s always something new to uncover in this historic and influential world city.

STAY LONGER IN LONDON. This idea can be extended and/or modified: Go to Day Trips for some ideas. They are just a sample as we can personalize your stay according to your interests, time available and budget. We look forward to being of service and organizing an awesome travel experience…for you!

Kensington Palace - Entrance Ticket

Kensington Palace is a royal residence set in Kensington Gardens, in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea in London, England. It has been a residence of the British Royal Family since the 17th century, and is the official London residence of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Harry, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke and Duchess of Kent, and Prince and Princess Michael of Kent. Today, the State Rooms are open to the public and managed by the independent charity Historic Royal Palaces, a nonprofit organization that does not receive public funds. The offices and private accommodation areas of the Palace remain the responsibility of the Royal Household and are maintained by the Royal Household Property Section. The nearest tube stations are in Queensway, Bayswater, Kensington High Street, or (slightly farther) Gloucester Road.

Duration6 Hours
Day 3

Windsor Castle, Stonehenge and Bath with Entry Tickets

Your day begins with a visit to one of the National Treasures. Built high above the River Thames, Windsor Castle has been home to the Royal Family for 900 years and is still an Official Residence of the Queen. Here you will visit the magnificent State Apartments, still used for State occasions and Royal receptions. Your next stop is clouded in mystery. The ancient stone circle of Stonehenge is an amazing feat of engineering and the most important prehistoric site in England, but beyond its archaeological significance and possible astronomical role, Stonehenge is also a place of spiritual importance. Early legends link it with Merlin and King Arthur, but over the last hundred years the midsummer sunrise has attracted pagan groups and followers of the Ancient Order of Druids. You will also visit the beautiful Georgian City of Bath and take you on a panoramic tour of some of the finest architectural sights in Europe, including Bath Abbey, the Royal Crescent, the Circus, Assembly Rooms and the famous Pulteney Bridge. Explore the Roman Baths, built around thermal springs, which have been supplying water for over 2,000 years. In Roman times a great Temple was built next to the sacred spring - the waters were believed to have healing properties and attracted visitors from across the Roman Empire.

Duration11 Hours
Day 4

Downtown Abbey Village, Blenheim Palace and Cotswolds

Your day begins with a visit Blenheim Palace State Rooms and walk through the magnificent Gardens. Blenheim Palace is a masterpiece of English Baroque architecture and the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. Here you will have a tour of the Blenheim Palace State Rooms where the guide will bring the history of this fabulous palace to life. You will then continue the day with a panoramic tour of the enchanting Cotswolds. This region of outstanding natural beauty is characterized by attractive small towns and thatched villages of yellow Cotswold stone made prosperous by the historic wool trade. You will then get to visit the villages of Bibury and Bourton-on-the-Water, then the village of Bampton (setting for the TV series "Downton Abbey"). You can see the Church where a number of "Downton" events were hosted, from weddings and funerals to the Downton Fair. Next to the church is Churchgate House which was used as the Crawley family home, and the old Grammar School which now houses the Bampton Library and Community Archive and served as the Downton Cottage Hospital. The street is also the location for two local pubs, "The Grantham Arms" and "The Dog & Duck".
