London and the Countryside: London, Stonehenge, Bath & More

Duration
7 Days
Prices From:
US$ 1,497

MODERATE | TAILOR-MADE: Discover London and the countryside on this 7 day tailor-made adventure. After four days in the English capital you'll set out on a small group tour to explore portions of the verdant countryside. Taking you to historical landmarks like Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace to the enigmatic rocks of Stonehenge to the birthplace of the Bard, it's an ideal combination for England first-timers, or return visitors wanting to go beyond its timeless capital.

Your journey across the south of England begins in London, the capital of the United Kingdom and one of the most popular cities on the planet. Enjoy the perfect introduction to London while riding on the upper level of a double-decker bus. On your ride throughout the city, you’ll pass by famous landmarks such as Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, and the Tower of London. You’ll also stop by Buckingham Palace, the official residence of His Majesty the King, and take a boat cruise along the Thames, spotting Shakespeare’s Globe, the London Bridge, and the Shard during the journey.

But there's more to London than tradition, pomp, and ceremony. Come in summer, and let the swinging 60s come to life on your Classic Rock and Beatles Sites tour. Follow a half-century of music history that shaped the world, from The Beatles to Queen to the 80s New Wave invasion to Adele. These neighbourhoods still play a key role in Britain's music scene today. The rest of your day is at leisure (full day at leisure if you're coming in winter), as is the following day, giving you time to explore the London that most interests you.

From London, head west and travel back in time as you visit Stonehenge, the most famous prehistorical monument in the world. Dating back nearly 5,000 years, this fascinating stone monument has beguiled people for centuries. Perhaps you can unlock some of its secrets. After pondering the stones, head further back in time to the Jurassic Coast, Britain's treasure trove of prehistoric fossils, with stops at famous sites like Durdle Door.

Explore Dartmoor, Glastonbury, and key sites from Britain's long naval history on your way to the city of Bath. England's second most popular city with visitors, Bath will utterly charm you with its Georgian architecture and Roman ruins. Be sure to allow at least two hours after lunch if you want to explore the Roman Baths themselves. There's a lot to see!

Return to London in the early evening, where you’ll spend one last night before heading to the airport to continue your onward journey.

Day 1

Arrive to London

Welcome to London! Upon arrival, grab your bags and enjoy a private transfer to your hotel in the city. Take in excellent views of Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye, St. Paul's Cathedral and the Tower of London on a meandering route, sweeping through the streets and history of the English capital.

The tour also includes a boat trip on the river Thames as well as a visit to Buckingham Palace, the official Royal residence of His Majesty the King. Following your time at Buckingham, the scene shifts to the river Thames where you'll set off on serene sailing coursing through the central waterway of London, passing sites of interest including Shakespeare's Globe, London Bridge, the Shard and Tower Bridge before arriving at the London Eye pier, where you'll disembark. Classic Rock and Beatles Sites

This Classic Rock Legends tour covers sites and locations relevant to the history of so many 60s, 70s, and 80s artists; tour sites that made the 60's swing. You'll visit locations where London's hippie underground 'counter-culture' took off, where the 70's punk revolution took place, and the boutique pubs and clubs that made these decades, inspiring hundreds of well-known lyrics and melodies. Found in the boroughs of Belgravia and Chelsea, The Kings Road was the heart of Swingin' 60's London, and is today chock full of music, art and fashion heritage. See places of importance in the histories of the Beatles, Stones, Eric Clapton and Cream, early Pink Floyd, and Pete Townsend. Discover the inspiration of London Calling and where punk was 'born' and later, check out the Beatles' homes, former offices, gig sites and where the Sargent Pepper's cover was shot. An abundance of legendary Stones locations here too! Later, in Kensington, you'll learn about the neighborhood's relevance to Queen and Freddie Mercury before enjoying a comfort stop at Bill Wyman's Sticky Fingers restaurant. In Holland Park and Notting Hill, Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix fans will be well served with a range of entertaining stories, and later, you'll learn about the cultural shift of London's post-war scene and the music it spawned. Here you'll find places that hosted Bob Marley, the Clash, early Pink Floyd, and a range of recording studios, from punk to Adele. Rounding out your day, make the quick trip to Abbey Road to visit a few Fab Four homes, gig sites, and of course, the iconic road crossing where you can snap your own crossing; shoes highly recommended. Please note, this is a small coach panoramic tour with photo stops and occasional walking.
