London and Edinburgh for Foodies

Duration
7 Days
Prices From:
US$ 2,744

DELUXE | PRIVATE-GUIDED: Explore the capitals of England and Scotland in-depth, all while appreciating delicious and iconic drinks and dishes on this tailor-made, customizable experience. Stay in deluxe hotels, sip your way through distilleries, and surprise your palate with the local specialties of London and Edinburgh.

This 7-day trip begins in London, one of the world’s most instantly recognisable cities, and also one of the tastiest. After four days here, travel to Scotland for sightseeing, malt whisky tastings and more.

Staying in stately Westminster, just steps from Big Ben, explore London, beginning with a hop-on, hop-off sightseeing tour, which takes you to the attractions that interest you most. Over 80 of London’s best sights are offered, including the Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, the British Museum, and more. You’ll have time for more sightseeing the following day, but don’t miss your Secret Gin Tour, which takes you through the craft distilleries of London to learn about arguably the city’s most beloved spirit.

Then, it’s time for a foodie tour through Greenwich. Taste your way through one of London’s best food markets, enjoying the global flavours that make up today’s London, all in the company of your guide, who’ll take you to the spots most tourists miss. Your stay in the capital ends with a glass of champagne on the iconic London Eye before boarding your train bound for Edinburgh.

Gin may be the drink of choice in London, but there’s no disputing the national drink of Scotland. Discover what makes a true single malt whisky at Glengoyne, diving into the stories of Loch Lomond, and admiring magnificent scenery en route. Return to Edinburgh, ready for a visit to Edinburgh Castle the following day. Spend a half day exploring the city’s most revered landmark before embarking on a private foodie tour.

Forget every stereotype you’ve ever heard about Scottish food. Portions are ‘tasting’ sized, but this is a progressive meal including a mouth-watering starter, main course, cheese, charcuterie, and dessert, all distinct to Scotland. Of course, you’ll also have the chance to taste haggis the right way. Scottish beer and another whisky tasting are also on the menu.

Transfer to Edinburgh Airport for your flight home, or stay an extra day to explore more of Edinburgh.

Day 4

The London Eye - Fast Track Entry

At 135 meters (approximately 443 feet), the London Eye is the world's largest cantilevered observation wheel. It was conceived and designed by Marks Barfield Architects and was launched in 2000, and has since won over 85 awards for national and international tourism, outstanding architectural quality and engineering achievement. The observation wheel turns slow enough for people to embark while it is moving, and a complete turn takes about thirty minutes. Thanks to the construction of the glass capsules on the outer side of the rim, you will have a great 360-degree view of London. Many famous landmarks are clearly visible, including Buckingham Palace, St. Paul's Cathedral and the Houses of Parliament. On a clear day, you can see as far as 40 kilometers (approximately 25 miles). Make sure to reserve a specific time in advance as all entries now require a fixed-time reservation. A helpful hint? It's less crowded at night and the views on a clear night are even more spectacular.

Discover Malt Whisky

This tour is for lovers of Scotch single malt whisky and for those who would like to know more about the national drink. Discover the secrets behind the making of Scotland's national drink and in particular the best variety of all - single malt whisky. Your tour takes you west from Edinburgh past Stirling to visit the first distillery of the day at Glengoyne. Beautifully situated at the foot of the Campsie Hills, which provide the water supply for the whisky making, the tour here will introduce you to the simple but magical process of turning barley, water and yeast into whisky. From here you will take a scenic drive to the shores of Loch Lomond in the heart of Scotland's first National Park for a tasty pub lunch (own account) and the chance to sample some local beers. After lunch we recommend a short walk to the viewpoint overlooking the loch and all its islands before heading off towards the second distillery of the day at Deanston. This converted cotton mill on the banks of the River Teith has many interesting features and produces some unique flavours in its whisky. After a relaxed afternoon visit here you will return to Edinburgh with the stories and flavours of single malt whisky fresh in your mind.
