What is a Classic Independent Itinerary? SEE Goway Classic BELOW

Spend 4 nights in Royal London. Design your own itinerary with a hop-on, hop-off bus tour. First timers may want to focus on a few of the big ticket sights – the Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, the British Museum, Shakespeare’s Globe, the Tate Modern, or the changing of the guard to name a few. Just remember, the world also looks to London for the next ‘big thing’ in culture, entertainment, and food. Treat yourself to the West End’s latest hit musical, or let one of the city’s many innovative restaurants do away with those outdated stereotypes about British cuisine.

Your next day begins with a visit to Windsor Castle, home to the Royal Family. Here visit the magnificent State Apartments still used for State occasions and Royal receptions. Then travel to the ancient stone circle of Stonehenge, an amazing feat of engineering and the most important prehistoric site in England. Also visit the beautiful Georgian City of Bath to take in some of the finest architectural sights in Europe including Bath Abbey, the Royal Crescent, the Circus, the Assembly Rooms and the famous Pulteney Bridge. Also explore the Roman Baths built around thermal springs.

Leave London and travel by train to Edinburgh for a 3 night stay. Your first full day here includes a hop on-hop off bus tour. You can choose which highlights you wish to visit. These can include Princes Street, Grassmarket, Holyrood Castle, the Royal Mile and of course, the glorious Edinburgh Castle steeped in history. Also go beyond the castle walls to the narrow streets of the old city.

The following day brings a tour which passes through magnificent Glencoe, scene of the clan massacre in 1692 and continues on through Fort William, the beginning of the "Great Glen" and the Caledonian Canal to Fort Augustus on the banks of Loch Ness with a chance to see Nessie!. From here head south to the attractive village of Spean Bridge, before returning to Edinburgh via "Monarch of the Glen" country, stopping in Perthshire.

Day 3

Windsor Castle, Stonehenge and Bath with Entry Tickets

Your day begins with a visit to one of the National Treasures. Built high above the River Thames, Windsor Castle has been home to the Royal Family for 900 years and is still an Official Residence of the Queen. Here you will visit the magnificent State Apartments, still used for State occasions and Royal receptions. Your next stop is clouded in mystery. The ancient stone circle of Stonehenge is an amazing feat of engineering and the most important prehistoric site in England, but beyond its archaeological significance and possible astronomical role, Stonehenge is also a place of spiritual importance. Early legends link it with Merlin and King Arthur, but over the last hundred years the midsummer sunrise has attracted pagan groups and followers of the Ancient Order of Druids. You will also visit the beautiful Georgian City of Bath and take you on a panoramic tour of some of the finest architectural sights in Europe, including Bath Abbey, the Royal Crescent, the Circus, Assembly Rooms and the famous Pulteney Bridge. Explore the Roman Baths, built around thermal springs, which have been supplying water for over 2,000 years. In Roman times a great Temple was built next to the sacred spring - the waters were believed to have healing properties and attracted visitors from across the Roman Empire.

Day 7

Loch Ness, Glencoe and the Highlands

You depart Edinburgh and travel past Linlithgow palace and Stirling Castle. To the north is the National Wallace Monument, which commemorates Scotland's great hero, William Wallace.

You pass close to the location where William Wallace defeated the English army in 1297, and after this take a short stop for coffee at Callander.

The scenery changes dramatically as you venture further into the Highlands. The flat plains of the lowlands transform into shimmering lochs, rugged mountains, and forest-filled glens. The alluring beauty makes it easy to forget this was once a battleground of the fiercely territorial Highland clans.

You then head down to Scotland's most famous valley, Glencoe, where you'll be mesmerised by the beautiful cliff faces and steep slopes.

After Glencoe, you enter a deep glacial valley, known as the Great Glen. Passing through the town of Fort William you travel in the shadow of Britain's highest mountain, Ben Nevis, before arriving at Fort Augustus on the shore of Loch Ness.

At 23 miles long and over 700ft deep, Loch Ness is the largest loch by volume in Scotland. The loch is best known for the legendary Loch Ness Monster ("Nessie"), and you can take the opportunity to go in search of the monster on a fantastic boat cruise. Or you can simply enjoy the beautiful scenery on the banks.

Fort Augustus boasts the Caledonian Canal, which is a great spot to relax and watch the boats sail by. You stop here with time to eat lunch and take in the scenery around Scotland's most famous loch.

From Loch Ness, you head south through the mountains of the Cairngorms National Park. Your route travels alongside Loch Laggan (the setting for the BBC series 'Monarch of the Glen'), over the Drumochter Pass and past 13th century Blair Castle.

You continue south through the forests of Perthshire and make a short refreshment stop on the way. South of Perth you drive past Loch Leven. Then it's over the Queensferry Crossing before returning to Edinburgh.
