Venetian Style Traditional Pub Crawling

This afternoon excursion is a relaxed walk in the Rialto area, with information about Venice day by day life, traditions, food and market shopping. In Venice, more than 50,000 'ombre' (glasses of wine) are drunk each day. The 'bacaro' (wine bar) is a favourite meeting place for all Venetians and to drink an 'ombra' together is a social ritual, a declaration of friendship and solidarity renewed day after day, hour after hour. If you are not from Venice, then a visit to our 'bacari' could be a real key to understanding the different dimension of a city where being in a hurry is unheard of, where the rhythms are those of the sing-song cadence of the Venetian dialect, and of the steps which slowly echo down the secret, hidden lanes. Like Spanish tapas, Chicchetti are eaten at any time of the day. Accompanied without exception by an 'ombra', the cicchetto, which varies seasonally and from place to place, consists of a bite of fish or cured meat on a bed of polenta or bread and can be served cold or hot. At the end, this tour with drinks and snacks can easily be a good substitute to a dinner!

Duration3 Hours
Day 4

Verona and Amarone (ex. Venice)

Discover the magic of the wonderful city of Verona and the regions of Amarone and Valpolicella. You will arrive in the centre of Verona at Piazza Bra where the world famous 1st Century Arena is located (third largest in Italy); it has over 22000 seats and is the perfect place for outdoor operas and concerts. You will have approximately two and a half hours of free time to visit the house of Juliet (as in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet), the historical Piazza delle Erbe and some of the exclusive shops around the city. After Verona, head on over to the medieval towns of the Valpolicella region, time for an optional lunch and a chance to visit the 13th Century church of San Giorgio, with its splendid altar dating back to 712 a.d., from where there are some of the most beautiful, panoramic views of Sirmione and Lake Garda. From here you drive to a vineyard to have a guided visit and learn more about the famous 'Amarone' wine. Enjoy tasting some of the different wines they produce and have a chance to purchase a few bottles to take with you, such as Amarone and Recioto della Valpolicella. Then just sit back and enjoy the views upon returning to Venice.
