Your trip to Spain is all about Madrid, the Spanish capital and one of the few cities in the world that truly deserves the label “vibrant.” In the past, the city was home to royalty and artists, and today it remains home to some of the best nightclubs, bars, and restaurants the world over. During your time in Madrid, you’ll choose from two Hop-On Hop-Off bus tour itineraries that give you incredible access to the city and come with audio commentary and a city map. The Blue Route is perfect for Madrid first-timers, taking you to Gran Via, Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, and the famous art gallery trio of Museo Reina Sofia, which houses Picasso’s Guernica, the enormous Museo del Prado, and Museo Thyssen. The Green Route includes the museum of natural sciences, Puerta del Sol, Museo Esculturas, and the city’s superb archaeological museum. The next day, a sightseeing tour takes you to Retiro Park and the Bullring, Plaza de Colon, and the Royal Palace, where you’ll skip the line to access the 18th-century palace and see its many historical treasures.

Day 1

Madrid Airport to Madrid City Hotels

The Hotel Riu Plaza España, located in the emblematic Edificio España on Madrid's Gran Vía, has 26 floors with a wide range of facilities to make your stay a memorable experience. This hotel on the Gran Vía offers free WiFi throughout the hotel, a Sky Bar with breathtaking views of the city, an outdoor swimming pool located on the 20th floor, 24-hour gym and conference rooms for holding your best events.

The Hotel Riu Plaza España offers you more than 550 rooms, each with a mini-fridge, air conditioning and heating, an electronic safe, and a complimentary welcome kit, among many other amenities, to make your stay as pleasant as possible. And, if you like, you can cool off in the outdoor swimming pool located on the 20th floor, or do your daily workout in the 24-hour gym.

Day 2

Madrid City Tour Hop On-Off Pass 1 Day

The easiest way to see the city is on double-decker buses. With one ticket you will be able to hop on and off the bus all day along the route of your choice or change to another, admiring the architectural and cultural magnificence of Madrid, with the commentaries offered through a headphone audio system in fourteen different languages. You will be given a map of the city and discount checks for different shops and restaurants in the city. The operational frequency, depending on the season of the year, ranges approximately between 7 and 15 minutes. Route 1 takes about 80 minutes and Route 2 lasts about 65 minutes.

Route 1 (Blue):
Museo del Prado, Puerta de Alcala, Barrio de Salamanca, Plaza de Colon, Plaza de Cibeles, Gran Via, Plaza de Espana, Templo de Debod, Teatro Real, Palacio Real, Puerta de Toledo, San Francisco El Grande, Catedral Almudena, Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, Circulo Bellas Artes, Museo Thyssen, Museo Reina Sofia, Jardin Botanico and Museo del Prado.

Route 2 (Green):
Plaza Neptuno, Plaza de Cibeles, Plaza de Colon, Museo Esculturas, Museo de Ciencias Naturales, Nuevos Ministerios, Santiago Bernaeu, C.S.I. Cientificas, Museo Lazaro Galdiano, Serrano, Museo Arqueologico, Puerta de Alcala, Alcala, Puerta del Sol, Plaza de las Cortes and Plaza de Neptuno.

Day 3

Madrid Highlights with Royal Palace and Skip the Line Royal Palace

Take in the many contrasts Madrid offers its visitors as we take our coach and head to the Plaza de Oriente, then to the Debod Temple, where we will stop for a walk and take pictures accompanied by our guide. Next our coach will head towards the Plaza Mayor where we will be able to visit la Plaza de Villa and Puerta del Sol. We will then continue on for our visit to Carrera de San Jeronimo Street, Las Cortes (Spanish Parliament), Neptuno's Square (Famous artistic fountain), Paseo Del Prado (Walk of Art: Thyssen, Prado and Reina Sofia Museums), Atocha Railway Station, Royal Botanic Gardens of Madrid, Cibeles Square (Famous artistic fountain), Alcala Street, Alcala's Gate, Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas (Bullring) where we will make our last stop. To conclude we will return to the coach and end up seeing Santiago Bernabeu Stadium (Home of Real Madrid CF), Paseo de la Castellana Street, Plaza de Colon (Columbus Square), National Library, Gran Via Street, Plaza de Espana, Plaza de Oriente.

The Royal Palace was built in the XVIII century upon the ancient Baroque Italian style fortress of the Habsburg. It is one of the most beautiful and best preserved palaces in Europe and a symbol of the permanence and consolidation of Madrid as the capital of the Kingdom. The Palace was the official residence of the Spanish Monarchy from 1765 to 1931. To date, the most stunning receptions of the Spanish Crown are celebrated there: audiences, dinner parties, signature of agreements and the traditional ceremony of presentation in which foreign ambassadors present Credential Letters to His Majesty the King.

We will visit the Armory Square (exterior of the palace), the Grand Staircase, the King Charles III's Apartments, the Queen's Apartments, the Banqueting Hall, the Royal Chapel and the Throne Room and the Crown Room. After the guided tour, you may visit on your own the Royal Armory and enjoy the views from the viewpoint of the Armory Square.
