Take in the many contrasts Madrid offers its visitors, including the elegant Plaza de Oriente and Plaza de España, Oeste Park, Príncipe Pio hill, Puente del Rey (bridge), Virgen del Puerto Chapel -- which offers one of the best views of Madrid's historic quarter -- and Puente de Segovia (bridge). We then continue to Calle Mayor, Plaza de la Villa, Puerta del Sol, Neptuno Fountain, Atocha, Puerta de Alcalá (former city gate), Calle Alcalá, stately Retiro Park and the bullring, site of crowds and colour on afternoons when there are bullfights. At Plaza de Colón, we stop for a soft drink (included by courtesy of the Hard Rock Café Madrid). We then continue to see new Madrid, with its modern buildings and gardens, taking Paseo de la Castellana up to Plaza Castilla (Puerta de Europa). We then travel back down to take in Santiago Bernabéu Stadium (option of the BERNABÉU TOUR), Plaza de La Cibeles, Gran Vía (high street) and Plaza de Callao.
We will arrive at the PRADO MUSEUM and the visit will take place in chronological order, starting with the room where you can see the masterpieces of J. Bosch (El Bosco) (1450-1516): table of the 7 deadly sins, the Hay Wain, the temptations of Saint Anthony, and the stone of madness and the garden of earthly delights. Continue to the rooms devoted to El Greco (1540-1614): Knight of the hand on the chest, Trinity, Christ embraced the cross and the Annunciation. Then visiting Velázquez (1599-1660): worship, drunkards, equestrian portraits, the forge of Vulcan, the Christ", the spinners, the Spears and the meninas. The last stop is ending with Goya (1746-1828): the family of Carlos IV, the portraits, the May 2 massacre and the famous "majas".
