Moscow, St. Petersburg and Helsinki Discovery

Duration
9 Days
Prices From:
US$ 938

MODERATE | TAILOR-MADE: Discover the artistic and cultural heritage of Russia and Finland. In Russia, you’ll explore the metro system of the capital Moscow and the revolutionary history of St. Petersburg before connecting to Helsinki to tour the architecturally-stunning landmarks of the Finnish capital.

This 9-day European vacation explores Russia’s two finest cities, Moscow and St. Petersburg, before ending in the Finnish capital of Helsinki. It features first-class accommodations and private tours and transfers.

Your journey begins in Moscow, the Russian capital, which has been at the centre of so much history and culture over the past few centuries. A private metro tour of the city’s remarkable subway system will showcase the way that art and culture has become a part of daily life for millions of Russians. Travel to several different stations to admire their artistic murals and architectural styles, representing the breadth of Russian style. You’ll have another day in Moscow at leisure to explore some of the most famous sites, including Red Square, where you can see the twin icons of Russian political and cultural power: The Kremlin and St. Basil’s Cathedral. Swing by Lenin’s Mausoleum to see the embalmed Soviet leader if you so desire, or enjoy a night of high art at the Bolshoi Theatre.

From Moscow, ride the train to St. Petersburg, Russia’s traditional capital and artistic centrepiece. A private revolutionary tour will trace the history of three formative revolutions, including the October Revolution that saw the fall of Tsarist Russia in 1917. Among the key historical sites, you’ll visit Gorkovskaya metro station (named after the great Soviet dramatist Maxim Gorky), Peter and Paul’s Fortress, which was a political prison for dissidents, and finally Lenin’s Square, which immortalizes the revolution with statues and placards. You’ll have another day at leisure to delve into Russian Imperial opulence and cultural history with visits to the Hermitage State Museum, the Winter Palace, or the Peterhof.

Ride the train into Finland and connect to the capital Helsinki, one of the world’s foremost centres of design and city living. A private sightseeing tour will take you to many of the most popular landmarks within the city limits, including the City Hall, Finlandia Hall, and, if time permits, the Temppeliaukio Church, which is a church carved into a massive slab of solid rock.

At the end of your stay, you’ll connect to the airport to continue to your next destination or return home.
