The next morning, travel to the Island of Reichenau, a UNESCO World Heritage town with an interesting abbey dating back to 724 AD. Then it’s on to Unteruhldingen, known as the “Village on Stilts” due to the many houses built this way. Later cruise across Lake Konstanz to the Bavarian town of Lindau with its exceptional gardens. Return to Arbon.

The next day cross into the Duchy of Liechtenstein stopping at its capital, Vaduz and its castle, home to the reigning prince of Liechtenstein. Afterwards, continue to Chur, Switzerland’s oldest city where you will explore the old town with its quaint cobbled streets. Overnight in Chur.

Continue to Lucerne for a 2 night stay. Start with a walking tour of the city with its well preserved 14th Century wall, the Museggmauer and its medieval Chapel Bridge. Then visit a chocolatier to learn the history of chocolate making.

The following morning, take a boat ride to Vitznau and join the cog railway, Europe’s first mountain railway, to Mount Rigi where you will experience breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding region. Return by cable car and boat to Lucerne.

Next travel next through the green Swiss valleys to the village of Murren in the Bernese Oberland. Murren is a car-free village with access only by cable car. Enjoy a short walking tour before having a cheese fondue dinner in the evening. Stay 2 nights in Murren.

A highlight the following day is a trip to the Jungfrauhoch which rises to a height of 3450 metres/11,200 feet. Reach the mountain via Europe’s highest railway. From the top, you will be able to see 3 important and spectacular mountains, the Eiger, the Monch and the Jungfrau from the observation terrace.

Leave Murren and travel to the capital of Switzerland, Bern with its medieval streets and 800 year old history. Have a walking tour taking in the famous Bear Pit, the interesting clock tower and the 13th Century gate. Overnight in Bern.
