Some of the highlights to be considered on your tour are certainly the city centre with its four grand avenues, the Alte Pinothek and the Neue Pinothek art galleries, Marienplatz, the heart of the city, the Cathedral, the beautiful English Garden, larger than Central Park, the famous Hofbrauhaus, the Viktualienmarkt, a farmers market in the centre of the city, Olympic Park built for the Olympics in 1972 and BMW World, headquarters of this German automaker. You can also visit the baroque Nymphenburg Palace, the summer residence of former Bavarian rulers.

The next day brings a tour to visit two nearby romantic castles. First stop in the village of Oberammergau, famous for its Passion Play and woodcarvers. Then arrive at the 19th Century Linderhof Castle with its Moorish pavillion. Afterwards head to the World’s most famous castle, Neuschwanstein. This is a fairy tale neo roman castle which will amaze you with its structure. You will have time for lunch in the town of Hohenschwangen which is close to the castle allowing you to take time exploring Neuschwanstein.

Your final day’s touring takes you to the town of Dachau, the site of one of the Nazis' most infamous concentration camps. This camp was a model concentration camp where SS guards and camp officers were sent for training. . Visit the memorial site, the museum and watch a documentary film.

Day 3

Day Trip to Royal Castles Neuschwanstein and Linderhof

Departing Munich, visit the smallest of three royal castles, Linderhof, which was built by King Ludwig II during the 19th century as a hunting lodge. Built in French Rococo style, the castle has a Moorish pavilion which can be visited during your one hour stay. You have the option to join a guided tour of the interior of Linderhof. After departing Linderhof, you will have a short shopping stop in Oberammergau, world-famous for its woodcarvers, richly painted houses (Luftl-paintings) and passion play.

On the approach to Neuschwanstein, it will quickly become clear as to why this magnificent neo-Romanesque style castle is the most well-known castle in the world. It appears through the mist like something out of a fairy-tale, and you will not be surprised to hear that the man who conceived its design - King Ludwig II, was considered quite eccentric. If it all seems very familiar, it may be because the castle was the inspiration for Disney's Sleeping Beauty Castle.

You will stop in Hohenschwangau, a small town at the feet of the castle, where you'll have 4 hours at disposal for lunch and to explore the grounds of Neuschwanstein. You'll also have the option of joining a guided tour of the interior of the castles if you wish.

Duration10 Hours
Day 4

Half Day to Dachau - Memorial Site

Driving through the village of Dachau you will reach the former concentration camp. Auschwitz might be the most famous camp in the Nazi system of terror, but it was not the first. The first concentration camp was Dachau, established on March 20, 1933 in the southern German town of the same name (10 miles northwest of Munich). Although it was initially established to hold political prisoners of the Third Reich, only a minority of whom were Jews, Dachau soon grew to hold a large and diverse population of people targeted by the Nazis. Under the oversight of Nazi Theodor Eicke, Dachau became a model concentration camp, a place where SS guards and other camp officials went to train. You will have time to visit the memorial site, the museum and view the documentary film shown in the main hall at around 3:30pm. There is no guided tour on site, however your guide will give you information and answer any questions on the way to and from Dachau.
