Naples, the Almalfi Coast, Aeolian Islands, Sicily & Calabria Cruise

8 Days
On request

The corner of Italy where glamour meets grit, the Almalfi Coast is one of the most history-rich and culturally immersive regions in Europe. This unique Europe cruise lets you experience it in detail.

Please see LEFT BAR for ship details and other cruise info.

This 8-day Almalfi cruise combines the authenticity and history of Naples, the Aeolian Islands, and Sicily, with the beauty of the Amalfi Coast.

Enjoy a welcome cocktail aboard ship, then take a morning to visit Pompeii. Destroyed by Mount Vesuvius, which still looms above modern day Naples, Pompeii is one of Europe’s most complex and intriguing archaeological sites. In the afternoon, take a guided tour of Naples. Renowned as one of Europe’s grittiest cities, it nonetheless raised actress Sophia Loren, a testament to its eccentric and contradictory nature. And don’t cast off without trying pizza in the city that created it!

Sail overnight for the Aeolian Islands off Sicily’s northeastern coast. Enjoy a walk around the most significant cultural sites including the Sanctuary of the Black Madonna, before spending the afternoon at your leisure in Milazzo. Spend the next day enjoying a day trip to Taormina, and Mount Etna, Europe’s largest active volcano, and the supposed realm of Vulcan and the Cyclops.

Back on the mainland, another day trip takes you to explore Calabria, at the very tip of Italy’s ‘boot.’ Enjoy the rich colours and inviting climate of this region, which is an enjoyable getaway year-round. Visit the popular seaside resort of Tropea, and lesser known, but endlessly charming Pizzo. Set sail overnight for Salerno on the Amalfi Coast. This dramatic region brings lush forests together with some of Italy’s most delightful villages, all set along a dramatic coastline. Visit Sorrento in detail to see the region at its best, before returning to Naples.

Your last full day isn’t devoted to the city as such. Instead, take an airboat to the Isle of Capri. You’ll visit the local historic sites and enjoy fantastic views over the island, and back over the mainland, including Versuvius and the Gulf of Naples. Traditional folklore entertainment brings your trip to a colourful end before you disembark. Feel free to add an extra few days to enjoy Naples or the surrounding towns.
