Norway: Fjord and Glaciers Small Group Tour

Duration
10 Days
Prices From:
US$ 5,616

Let your imagination run wild as you fjord-hop past tiny islands and towering waterfalls on this journey through Norway. Starting in Bergen, you’ll journey along the Flam Railway, carve a path through a landscape of dreamy fjords and snow-capped mountains, and experience the ultimate outdoors adventure.

This 10-day Norwegian vacation explores the mighty fjords and glaciers near the western city of Bergen.

Your trip to Norway begins in Bergen, the majestic seaside town that was a major seaport during the Middle Ages. From Bergen, you’ll start your trek across the nation. First stop is the mighty waterfall of Steinsdalsfossen, with a drop of over 50m. Continue to Ulvik and visit Syse Farm, where you’ll learn about Norwegian history, tour the local orchard, and enjoy some delicious produce. The next day, journey along the Eidfjord to cross Hardanger Bridge and visit a local farm along the Cider Route. Reach Myrdal and board the world-famous Flamsbana or Flam Railway, one of the steepest train routes in the world. This rail journey takes you from the heights of Myrdal on the mountain top of Hardangervidda to the ocean-level town of Flam. Disembark and enjoy a cheese tasting in town before continuing to the Norwegian Book Town of Fjaerland, known for its vast assortment of charming second-hand bookshops.

From Fjaerland, head to the Norwegian Glacier Museum to learn about the Ice Age and prepare for your journey to the country’s glaciers. You'll then head to the Supphellebreen, Boyabreen, and Kjenndal glaciers to witness some of Norway’s alpine majesty. The next day, journey to Dalsnibba Summit, the highest fjord in Europe, before surveying the glorious waterfalls of the Seven Sisters, Bridal Veil, and Suitor. Reach Briksdal Glacier and ride the troll car up the face of the glacier before reaching the Sunnfjord Museum, a massive open-air museum that details the rural life of the 19th century.

On your way back to Bergen, stop by the incredible Hopperstad Stave Church, with its Viking designs and all-wooden construction, and gaze upon the coursing waters of Tvindesfossen Waterfall. Once you return to Bergen, you’ll have another day to explore this charming city. Head on a walking tour to see the most important city sights, from the colourful wooden buildings of Bryggen that line the harbour to the home of composer Edvard Grieg. At the end of your stay, head to the airport to continue your onward journey.
