FIRST-CLASS | ESCORTED COACH: Discover many of the top highlights of Scotland on this 8-day exploration of Edinburgh, the Highlands and Glasgow. From historic castles, battlefields and art pieces to sampling whisky and cruising along Loch Ness, this program is ideal for first-time visitors to Scotland.
This 8-day journey from Edinburgh to Glasgow by way of Loch Ness invites you to explore the history, beauty, and endless charisma of Scotland.
Land in Edinburgh and take it easy on your first day, enjoying the beauty of the city and walking the famous Royal Mile. If you have the energy, consider a tour of The Real Mary Kings Close or Holyrood Palace, the Royal residence in Edinburgh. A guided tour takes you to many of Edinburgh’s highlights the following day, with stories from your expert guide putting it all into perspective. The highlight of the day is a visit to Edinburgh Castle. Your afternoon is at leisure for more sightseeing, or take the city’s favourite walk to the peak of Arthur’s Seat for a fantastic view. The following day, visit some of Edinburgh’s most famous surrounding sights including Roslyn Chapel and Abbotsford House.
It's not a visit to Scotland without trying to find Nessie! Well, not a first-time visit, anyway. Just as important, learn the true story of Mary Queen of Scots and other key figures in the country’s history at Stirling Castle on your way to Inverness. You’ll visit a distillery and sample some fantastic highland whiskey en route. Besides the notoriously shy monster, Inverness is a lovely town to explore. Visit Urqhart Castle and the remains of Elgin Cathedral as you immerse yourself in 1,000 years of history.
Many first-time visitors to Scotland bypass Glasgow's rich industrial history and diversity. Their loss is your gain! Head to this fascinating, appealing, and very down-to-earth city by way of Culloden Battlefield of Jacobite Wars fame. Then embark on a tour of Glasgow including its stunning cathedral, and the fascinating and beautiful Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. With your spare time, track down what Glasgow does best with some good cheap eats, nightlife, or independent theatre, or take in a unique performance at the magical Sharmanka Kinetic Theatre. Transfer to Glasgow or Edinburgh Airport for your departure.
