York, The Dales, Lake District & Hadrian's Wall (Small Group) ex. Edinbrugh

Duration
6 Days
Prices From:
US$ 841

Unlike most Edinburgh based tours that focus on Scotland, this one is all about the north of England, including Hadrian’s Wall, beautiful Yorkshire, and the Lake District.

This small group experience (maximum 16 participants) gets you off the beaten track so you get a real feel for the country. Our guides are hand-picked for their pride and passion for their country. You choose your style of accommodation. Transportation is in modern Mercedes Benz mini-coaches.

This 6-day journey through Northern England is a round trip from Edinburgh, through some of the country’s most delightful countryside and historic towns.

A few extra days in Edinburgh are an excellent addition to either the beginning or end of your trip. Then set out along the Lothian coastline towards Berwick Upon Tweed. Admire its fortifications before going on to the much loved (and filmed) Alnwick Castle. Reach York by late afternoon and immerse yourself in one of England’s most beautiful cities. Admire Yorkminster, or simply relax enjoying the historic ambience.

York is also the gateway to Yorkshire, including the Moors and Dales. You’ll spend a couple of days exploring these regions, stopping in the towns of Whitby, Keswick, and Robin Hood’s Bay, either for meals, great photo opportunities, or both. Then ponder the mysterious stones of Castlerigg, and wander the shores of Lake Windermere, with the option of a cruise on the lake. Finally, follow in the footsteps of William Wordsworth, exploring Hawkeshead and Grasmere.

Your final day takes you to Hadrian’s Wall, one of Britain’s best known archaeological sites, en route back to Edinburgh.
