While the superb Rocky Mountaineer train journey from Vancouver to Jasper via Whistler and Quesnel is the centrepiece of this itinerary, there are plenty of other embellishments that make it such a spectacular trip. Vancouver is a splendid start, but you also have a full day in Victoria and, to round it off, the majestic scenery of the Rockies comes into its full glorious focus in Jasper, Lake Louise, and Banff.

Enjoy one of the world’s greatest, and most beautiful, cities with a walk along the ocean at English Bay, or perhaps a casual bike ride around Stanley Park. Visit a gallery, try some shopping or hit the clubs after dinner.

See more of Vancouver on a hop-on, hop-off trolley bus included in your tour package. The live commentary reveals the history and fascinating facts of Chinatown, Gastown, Granville Island and many more of the city’s most popular sights. Try one of the great restaurants in Yaletown for dinner.

After a glorious 95-minute ferry ride you’ll be on lovely Vancouver Island. Take a fully narrated tour of beautiful Victoria, take a walk along the waterfront or stroll around magnificent Butchart Gardens, which is included in your excursion.

Back in Vancouver, you’ll board the luxurious Rocky Mountaineer train. You’ll pass stunning ocean and mountain scenery on the Sea-to-Sky corridor between Vancouver and Whistler. Once in Whistler, explore the shops of the pedestrian-friendly village or take the gondola to the top of the mountain for amazing vistas.

After being transferred to the Whistler rail station and boarding the Rocky Mountaineer again, watch out your window as you pass the shores of Anderson Lake and glacial-fed Seton Lake. You’ll be rewarded with sweeping views of the Fraser Canyon and the crossing of one of the highest railway bridges in the world as you head to Quesnel.

From there it’s on through the rugged Rockies of British Columbia and on to Jasper. Enjoy amazing views from inside the Rocky Mountaineer and snap photos of Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. You’ll have plenty of time to explore Jasper.

The next day is yours to dive deep into Jasper. Try one of the many superb hiking trails, take a boat ride on Maligne Lake, or take the Jasper SkyTram to a viewing area 2,000 meters above sea level for truly spectacular views.

From Jasper you embark on a sightseeing transfer to Lake Louise, traversing the Icefields Parkway. The Parkway might be the world’s best drive, with jaw-dropping mountains and brilliant aquamarine lakes all around. The highlight is a journey along the Icefields Parkway to the Columbia Icefield, where you can board an Ice Explore that trundles along the surface of the Athabasca Glacier. Your destination for today is Lake Louise, perhaps Canada’s most iconic destination.

Head south a few minutes to Banff, where you often find elk, moose, and the occasional bear just off the road. Check out the great shopping or one of the many fine restaurants in town.

The next day is free to explore Banff. Try a relaxing ride up the Sulphur Mountain gondola for breathtaking views, or elevate your heart rate by taking on the Via Ferrata climbing course at Mt. Norquay.
