Linyanti Wildlife Reserve Safari, Vacations & Wildlife Experiences

  • Its more than likely that you will spot a African Fish Eagle on your Botswana safari.
  • Plains Zebra running in water is always a popular photo opportunity while on your Linyanti Wildlife Reserve Safari
  • On Safari in Linyanti Wildlife Reserve, Botswana

On Botswana safaris, Linyanti Wildlife Reserve is a large private reserve covering an area of 125,000 ha that borders Chobe National Park’s western boundary. Linyanti is one of the least visited parts of Botswana but it is also one of the most unspoiled areas in the country.

The reserve is in quite a remote part of Botswana and there are only a few private camps which mean the wildlife found there exists in relative peace on a Botswana safari. In the past Linyanti served as a popular spot for colonial hunters, but today it offers high concentrations of giraffe, buffalo and antelope. The area is also known for its predator species including lions, cheetahs, hyenas and leopards.

A great deal of Chobe National Park’s wildlife chooses to spend the winter season in the reserve and as such, the waters of Linyanti offer excellent views of huge migratory species such as zebra and elephants. Outside of the rainy season on Botswana safaris, Linyanti hosts the first permanent water supply that migratory animals come across.

The reserve is named for the Linyanti River that flows eastward towards Chobe National Park. Along the river are various pools and lagoons that are frequented by hippos and crocodiles. These water sources are also popular with birds making Linyanti a year-round birding destination.
