Ulaanbaatar Tours, Vacation Packages & Travel Experiences

  • Ulaanbaatar is the capital and the largest city of Mongolia and it typically the starting point of your Mongolia tour.
  • The Zaisan Tolgoi Monument for Soviet Military
  • Ulaanbaatar, the cultural, industrial, and financial heart of the country
  • The Winter Palace
  • Genghis Khan - the famous Mongolian Emperor

Located on the bank of the Tuul River in north central Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar is the country’s capital and largest city. An independent municipality, Ulaanbaatar is the cultural, financial, and industrial heart of the country which will all be seen on a Mongolia vacation.

Once a yurt (tent-like habitations), mobile, monastery-town, Ulaanbaatar was founded in 1639 and known as Orgoo, 250kms away from its existing location. Settling permanently in 1778 after 28 moves, Ulaanbaatar has grown into a major manufacturing centre.

As the centre of Mongolia’s road network, Ulaanbaatar is connected by rail with both the Trans-Siberian Railway in Russia and the Chinese railway system. An ever-growing industrial city, Ulaanbaatar still features stark contrast, where modern living blends with traditional Mongolian lifestyle. Yurts or gers can still be found on the outskirts of the city.

There are many museums and monasteries to visit on Mongolia tours . Statues of Genghis Khan can be found, as well as various commodities throughout Mongolia featuring the Emperor’s name and image. Sukhbaatar Square, found in the heart of Ulaanbaatar is a public square surrounded by the Parliament House, Stock Exchange, the Drama Theatre, and Cultural Palace.

A vibrant nightlife, restaurants, and shops, including cashmere boutiques, can be found on Peace Avenue, Ulaanbaatar’s main street which stretches east to west and passes along Sukhbaatar Square.

Excursions to the countryside, along with a backdrop of Mongolia’s four holy mountains surrounding the city, provide Ulaanbaatar an interesting sense of balance and fascinating place to visit.on a mongolia vacation
