  • The Supertree Grove Cloud Forest & Flower Dome
  • A multiple face statue at a Hindu temple
  • Marina Bay Sands Hotel dominates the skyline in Singapore

Here are some facts to be considered for a Singapore vacation. Located one degree north of the equator, Singapore is a city-state off the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula, in Southeast Asia

Consisting of 63 islands, Singapore is a highly urbanized island country, continually developing through land reclamation. One of the busiest ports in the world, Singapore mostly comprises of Chinese, but also Malays and Indians. Along this strong blend of diverse cultures, Singapore features a distinct British colonial heritage.

Sinking into obscurity for two centuries, and featuring a mere population of 1000 people, Singapore was revived by Thomas Stamford Raffles in 1819, when he signed a treaty on behalf of the British East India Company to develop the southern part of Singapore as a British trading post. By 1860, the population increased to 80,000, as Singapore soon became the global centre for rubber exports.

One of the most prosperous countries in the world, Singapore is famous for its pristine boulevards, vast parkland, and nature reserves to be en joyed on a Singapore tour. Marina Bay is a new development in Singapore, largely featuring an integrated resort (hotel, casino, shopping mall, convention centre and museum) as well as a large public garden which houses two conservatories.

Famous landmarks in Singapore include the Raffles Hotel, famous for its invention of the Singapore Sling (by bartender Ngiam Tong Boon), Merlion Park, featuring 2 statues of Merlions, a mythical creature with the head of a lion and the body of a fish, and Orchard Road, Singapore’s famous stretch of street, known for its shopping and entertainment.
