Adelaide is a picturesque but cosmopolitan city with a relaxed atmosphere, the capital of South Australia and the fifth largest city in the country. It is a great city to walk around on an Australia vacation with its natural beauty reflected in its parks and historical architecture.

Being a planned city, it is designed on a grid layout with wide boulevards and large public spaces. It is surrounded by the Mount Lofty Ranges and the Adelaide Hills and is well known for its biannual Adelaide Festival, an arts and culture oriented celebration where one can experience opera, the theatre and other types of entertainment.

Close to Adelaide, you have several interesting options to fill your time from wine tasting in the famous Barossa Valley, hop on a local tram to the charming seaside resort of Glenelg or take a short flight or ferry ride to Kangaroo Island, an animal paradise where you can enjoy koalas and seals at Seal Bay, discover unique wildlife and get close to kangaroos all living in their natural habitat.

Adelaide is the starting point from which visitors can travel on the very special Indian Pacific or Ghan trains, the former travelling west to Perth and the latter travelling north to Alice Springs and Darwin, both offering great ways to see the wild yet scenically diverse Australian countryside.

If you just want to visit the city or experience some of Australia's finiest treasures, one of our Adelaide tours is the ideal addition to your trip itinerary. C’mon say G’day Downunder. Book one of our Australia vacations today and start exploring!
