Ayers Rock Tours, Vacation Packages & Travel Experiences

  • Ayers Rock, also know as Uluru, is a great extension for all trips to Australia

Ayers rock is a sandstone rock formation and UNESCO World Heritage site situated 450 kilometres/280 miles south west of Alice Springs. It is 348 metres/1140 feet high but the bulk of the rock is actually underneath the ground. To give an idea of its size, the distance around the circumference is 9.4 kilometres/5.8 miles. You will definitely need to ensure visiting on an Australia vacation

It is a very significant site for the local aboriginals. It belongs to the Anunga who have managed this for tens of thousands of years. The rock changes colour at different times of the day and year. It glows particularly red at dawn and sunset.

This whole area is famous for its natural beauty, spectacular and majestic rock formations and red plains which provide an extraordinary habitat for a variety of plants and wildlife found here. The Olgas or Mount Olga as it is also known is 25 kilometres/16 miles west of Ayers Rock. The aboriginal name for Mount Olga is Kata Tjuta and means Many Heads. The Olgas are 36 domes which literally Spring up out of the desert.

Although climbing Ayers Rock which is steep and takes around 1 hour is still possible, it is also a possibility that this will be prohibited sometime in the near future.

At Goway we feel that all trips to Australia should include one of our Ayers Rock tours. C’mon say G’day Downunder. Book one of our Australia vacations today and start exploring!
