Canaima National Park Tours & Travel Packages

Due to the current political situation, and keeping in mind the safety of our travelers,
Goway is not offering travel to Venezuela at this time.

Canaima National Park is located in the Gran Sabana region of Venezuela’s Bolivar State. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Canaima National Park is the gateway to Angel Falls, the largest waterfall in the world.

Covering an area of 30,000 sq km (12,000 sq mi), Canaima National Park is the second largest in Venezuela and the sixth largest in the world. More than half the park is covered by tepuis or flat-top sandstone mountains. The most famous tepuis are Mount Roraima, the tallest and easiest to climb, and Mount Auyantepui, the site of Angel Falls, one of Venezuela’s top attractions.

In addition to Angel Falls, where visitors can enjoy a refreshing swim at its base, Canaima National Park features various other waterfalls, lagoons, and plenty of varied fauna and flora. Some of the species found are jaguars, cougars, giant otters, giant anteaters, two-toed sloths, and various birds including eagles, parrots, and hummingbirds.

Canaima National Park is home to the indigenous Pemon Indians. Known as traders, the Pemon Indians have participated in ecotourism opportunities as well as developed some basic and luxurious tourist camps in the region. Those who hold on to mythological traditions believe the tepuis are inhabited by their ancestral spirits known as ‘Mawaris’.

Relatively remote, Canaima National Park has only a few roads connecting to towns. Visitors get around the park by light plane, or canoe and foot.

Canaima National Park offers visitors some challenging treks including a 3-day excursion to the top of Mount Auyantepui, which features a 700 sq km plateau. Upon return, visitors can descend to the tourist village of Kavac which features a bar, a small craft shop, and traditional huts with comfortable beds or hammocks.

Surrounded by natural and awe-striking beauty, Canaima National Park is a wonderful destination for any adventure traveler and eco-tourist.
