Los Roques Archipelago National Park
Due to the current political situation, and keeping in mind the safety of our travelers,
Los Roques Archipelago is a group of 40 islands and 250 coral reefs located in the Caribbean Sea approximately 165 kilometres/100 miles north of the Venezuelan mainland. It is known for its natural beauty and ecological importance. It is calm, quiet and usually fairly deserted.
The main island and the only one inhabited is Gran Roque which offers accommodation in small villa style hotels. Activities here include excellent snorkeling and scuba diving in natural lagoons with an abundance of exotic tropical fish and fauna. One can also windsurf and kite surf.
There is an interesting Turtle Sanctuary which is a research station and breeding ground for marine turtles.
