Charlotte Tours, Vacations & Travel Packages

  • Skyline in Charlotte

Dubbed the “Queen City” after Princess Charlotte, the city reigns over a hodgepodge of historic and vibrant arty neighbourhoods that radiate out from the banks of the Catawba River. During its 270 years, the city survived British occupation and during the Civil War, it was the site of Confederate headquarters. Today the Queen City’s skyline gleams with modern architecture. Alongside fans cheering the Carolina Panthers, you’ll find new sports complexes, family-friendly museums and amusement parks.

The NASCAR Hall of Fame mega-museum not only houses historic race cars it also awes visitors to practice a pit stop and actually sits behind the wheel in one of eight iRacing simulators. Art lovers will appreciate the 145,000 sq. ft. Mint Museum with its collections of American and contemporary works. Architecture fans should make time for a visit to the impressive Bank of America building which rises 60 stories to a crownlike top.

A stroll through the historic Fourth Ward with its antique architecture provides a glimpse of what once was. Montford and Plaza Midwood are a fusion of old and new where historic houses have been converted into wine bars and late-night eateries. The city’s food scene is becoming edgier and internationally diverse however Southern soul food and barbecue are still lovingly prepared.
For exhilarating outdoor activity head to Carowinds Amusement/Water Park home of Fury 325, North America’s fastest coaster or to the US National Whitewater Center for ziplines, rock climbing, paddle-boarding and white-water rafting: consider Charlotte a forward-focused crowd-pleaser.

  • Coasts and Mountains of the South: Atlanta, Myrtle Beach, Charleston & More

MODERATE | SELF-DRIVE: The American South is rich in mesmerizing scenery, history and graceful, often enthralling, architecture. The Great Smoky Mountains rising along the border of Tennessee and North Carolina are simply stunning and the beaches between Charleston and Savannah are delightful. Both cities also offer dazzling samples of antebellum architecture and plenty of history to go with it. Atlanta and Charlotte add the bigger city glamour, but Asheville might be the surprise of the trip.
