Key West Vacation Packages and Tours

  • Key West Vacations

A green and white splatter across the Gulf of Mexico, Atlantic Ocean and the Straits of Florida, with all manner of blue and green and aquamarine in every direction, at the very tip, far from reality, Key West beckons mermaids who wish to party as the sun sets red and pink over white sand dreams. Is it exaggerating to say Key West is a paradise? Earnest Hemmingway must have thought so, he wrote most of his life’s work from 1931-1942 in Key West in what is now a tribute museum to America’s great writer.

The underwater scene of neon reefs at Dry Tortugas National park is as vibrant as the street side evenings on the shore in this playground of natural wonders accessed by scuba diving or boating and above water, along Duval Street, hip restaurants, live music, drinking and dancing in the street after midnight is the rule rather than the exception. The population is made up of a mix of decedents of Bahamians who have been there for so many generations, they are lovingly called “conchs” versus “freshwater conchs” who are people who came from elsewhere and just couldn’t tear themselves away. You might want to join the ranks of the freshwater conchs once you’ve eased into the chill vibe of the historic Old Town, the streets elegantly flanked by Victorian homes built by wealthy sailors and merchants two hundred years ago. These lovely homes have been transformed into shops, guesthouses and restaurants serving fresh seafood prepared with finesses and class.  After dark, Key West cocktails and characters proliferate as the sun sets pink and perfect over these warm waters.
