Mongolia lies at the heart of Asia, on the balance between the 'East' of China, and the vast wilderness of Siberian Russia. This huge, sparsely populated land encompasses a fabulous array of pristine landscapes and a nomadic people whose lives are in many ways unchanged from the days of Genghis Khan and the mighty Mongol Empire.
Day 1. Arrive Ulaan Baatar.
This capital of Mongolia was founded in 1639. It’s located at an altitude of 1350 meters above sea level and is the centre of political, economic and cultural life of the country. Ulaan Baatar has over 700,000 inhabitants, 75% of them being under 35 years old.
On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel where you will check in and relax for the rest of the evening.
Overnight in Ulaan Baatar.

Mongolian Ger Camp
Day 2. Ulaan Baatar/Kharkhorum.
After breakfast, you’ll start your day with a visit to the National Museum of Mongolia and the Genghis Monument on the Sukhbaatar Square. Then travel overland (350 km/210 miles – about 5 to 6 hours) to the ancient capital of Kharkhorum via the Bayan Gobi sand dunes. The ruins of this ancient capital of the Mongolian great empire Kharakhorum is at the crossroads of the Silk Road.
Overnight in a Ger (Tent) Camp. (BLD)
Day 3. Kharkhorum/Hustai National Park.
After breakfast, you’ll visit the legendary Erdene Zuu monastery which dates back to the 16th century as well as the surrounding area and the newly established Karakorum museum. Drive back toward Ulaan Baatar and begin your journey in Hustai National Park (approximately a 4 hour drive). The reserve is surrounded by mountains, thick pine forests and lush meadows which are home to the Przewalski endangered wild horse "Takhi" and other wildlife. Watch a documentary and visit the small museum.
Overnight in a Ger Camp. (BLD)
Day 4. Hustai/Ulaan Baatar.
Travel back to the capital. Visit the Gandantegzilen Monastery which is the centre of Buddhism in Mongolia. This evening enjoy a performance of song and dance given by a local cultural group.
Overnight in Ulaan Baatar. (BLD)
Day 5. Depart Ulaan Baatar.
You will be transferred to the airport for your onward departure flight. (B)
