Day 1

Cancún, Bacalar & Chicanná

Upon arriving in Cancún, you'll be transferred to your hotel before embarking on a tour to Chicanná. En route, visit the stunning Bacalar Lagoon, known as the "Lagoon of the Seven Colors" due to its ever-changing water hues, ranging from turquoise to jade, across its 50-kilometer expanse. A delightful lunch will be served against this picturesque backdrop. Continuing towards Chicanná, nestled in the captivating Bec River area, you'll encounter Mayan architecture and recently unearthed archaeological treasures set amidst the lush Mayan jungle. Exploring the Chicanná archaeological site, which means "House of the Serpent's Mouth," is the highlight. Discovered only in 1967, it features unique doors adorned with animal-shaped masks. Day 2

Chicanná, Calakmul & Palenque

After an hour-long drive along the main highway, you will reach the entrance to Calakmul, the country's largest biosphere reserve and the only true high jungle in the Yucatán Peninsula. This unique region is a sanctuary for five of the six American wildcat species, over 230 bird species, and a diverse array of flora. The journey along this route promises sightings of an astonishing variety of plant and animal life. Continuing for another 1.5 hours on a narrow road, you'll arrive at the Calakmul archaeological site, situated approximately 25 kilometers from the Guatemalan border. This site boasts numerous stelas (monoliths) that unmistakably reflect its Mayan heritage. Atop one of its tallest monuments, gaze upon the expansive Mayan biosphere, often referred to as the "green sea." The visit concludes with a lunch break. Afterward, your journey proceeds to Palenque, where you will check-in at your accommodation. Approximate distance: 480 km (298 miles)

Palenque & Campeche

Campeche, Uxmal & Mérida

Depart for Mérida with a captivating stop at the Uxmal archaeological site along the way. Uxmal, meaning "built in three stages," is a quintessential example of the classic and post-classic Mayan periods. Its prominent structures include the Pirámide del Adivino (The Fortuneteller's Pyramid), Palacio de los Gobernadores (Governor's Palace), and the Cuadrángulo de las Monjas (Quadrangle of the Nuns). Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Continuing on to Mérida, often referred to as the "White City," you'll encounter a charming blend of Colonial and early 20th-century architecture, influenced by Arabic, French, and Italian styles.
