This itinerary includes four nights in Cape Town, the mother city of Africa, considered as one of the most beautiful regions in the world. It includes a full day Peninsula tour as well as a full day winelands tour which gives you a great overview of the area. The Garden Route is legendary for its awesome natural beauty. From Cape Town to Port Elizabeth, this tour journeys across spectacular mountain passes and along a pristine coastline boasting some of South Africa's top resorts. You finish at Kariega private game lodge for 3 perfect nights
Day 1. Depart North America
You will depart New York, Washington on South African Airways to Cape Town connecting through Johannesburg. If you are travelling from Toronto, your journey out of Toronto starts with United Airlines via New York. 
Day 2. Arrive Cape Town.
You will be met by our Goway representative and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 3. Cape Town Peninsula Tour.
Enjoy an early breakfast at the hotel before you are picked up for your full day tour of the Cape Peninsula Region. Travel along one of South Africa’s most scenic routes. Travel past Sea Point and Camps Bay, past the famous beaches of Clifton and Llandudno towards Hout Bay (optional Seal Island Cruise – time permitting). Drive along the Atlantic Seaboard and pass through Noordhoek and Scarborough. Later, stop for lunch (own account). After lunch, visit the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. Experience one of the most famous views in the world - False Bay. From, drive along the Indian Ocean coastline, where you visit the beautiful Boulders Beach to see the famous colony of Jackass Penguins. Afterwards, enjoy a short stop at the naval port of Simon's Town. Drop off will be at the hotel in the late afternoon. B
Day 4. Cape Winelands Tour.
Historical, glorious Stellenbosch with its Cape Dutch architecture, is the warm and wonderful heart of the Cape Winelands, and is surrounded by stunning wine estates. It’s truly the prettiest town, home to one of the country’s prestigious universities, and great for exploring fine art galleries, the architecture, the history and the curious and quaint shops. Take a leisurely drive to get acquainted with the beauty of this world-renowned region, then get inducted into the wine-making process in a fascinating cellar tour and wine tasting. Drop off will be at the hotel in the late afternoon. B
Day 5. At Leisure.
Today you are at leisure to explore this wonderful city. Cape Town is one of the most beautiful cities in the world strategically situated at the south western tip of Africa. The city lies about 60km north of Cape Point, in a natural bowl, with the magnificent Table Mountain to the rear, and the vast Atlantic Ocean to the front. Cape Town, the Mother City, is historically, culturally and visually the most diverse, breathtakingly scenic and vibrant city. There is so much to see and do. Explore the fabulous shops at the V&A waterfront or consider a trip to Robben Island or a trip up Table Mountain for the most dramatic views of the whole of the Cape Peninsula. B
Day 6. Cape Town to Oudtshoorn.
Early morning departure at 7:30am from Cape Town and travelling on to Stellenbosch for further collections. We then continue via the town of Montagu on 'Route 62' (South Africa's version of the famous 'Route 66') to the pretty village of Barrydale where we stop for tea (own account). You will get to enjoy the wonderful views of the spectacular Outeniqua Pass en route to Oudtshoorn, the 'feather capital of the world', so named because it is the centre of South Africa's ostrich industry. After lunch, you will learn more about these hardy, enigmatic creatures during a tour of an ostrich farm. B
Queen's Hotel or similar
Day 7. Oudtshoorn to Knysna.
This morning go underground to marvel at the icy formations in the Cango Caves, regarded as one of South Africa's most spectacular natural wonders. Then drive via the spectacular Outeniqua Pass to the visually stunning town of Knysna. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. BD
Knysna Hollow (2 nights)
Day 8. Knysna.
Cruise on the vast Knysna Lagoon, then visit the Featherbed Nature Reserve. Enjoy an amazing view of the imposing sandstone 'Heads' which guard the sea entrance to Knysna's huge tidal lagoon, and the forests, marshes and pristine beaches surrounding it. After lunch spend the rest of the day at leisure. BL
Day 9. Port Elizabeth to Kariega.
Travel via Port Elizabeth Airport to Kariega Game Reserve. This family owned and operated, private game reserve spans nearly 9,000 hectares of pristine African wilderness incorporating the picturesque Kariega and Bushman's Rivers. Kariega Game Reserve offers a unique combination of awesome Big-5 game viewing with an expansive variety of fauna, flora and birdlife in a landscape that incorporates 5 different eco-systems, displaying the most dramatic views and vistas. This afternoon enjoy an open vehicle safari through the game park, before returning after sunset to a wonderful dinner served under the African stars. BD
Kariega River Lodge (3 nights)
Day 10. Kariega Game Reserve.
Enjoy an early morning game drive. Then you are at leisure to enjoy the many facilities that Kariega offers. Nestled on the banks of the Bushman’s River, this Lodge is unique in that it connects a Big-5 game reserve to the sea. In addition to game drives and walks, there are optional daily boat cruises which ferry guests through the quaint village of Kenton-on-sea to its picturesque and user friendly beaches.
Kariega also offers a variety of well marked hiking trails on the predator-free, eastern River Lodge section of the reserve. This provides guests with the opportunity of walking safely amongst more than 25 species of game and birdlife. Alternatively take one the canoes for a leisurely paddle down either the Kariega or the Bushman’s rivers and watch in blissful silence as the river birds and animals go about their daily business. Fishing is also on offer.
This evening experience another open vehicle safari before returning to the lodge for a great dinner BLD
Day 11. Kariega Game Reserve.
Today enjoy both and early morning and late afternoon game drive. Rest of day is at leisure to enjoy Kariega’s many optional activities. BLD
Day 12. Depart Kariega Game Reserve.
After your morning safari and your last opportunity to enjoy Africa's wildlife, you will be transferred back to Port Elizabeth Airport for your onward journey to North America via Johannesburg. B
Day 13. Arrive North America.
