Your journey begins in Auckland, the largest city in New Zealand, where you’ll join your tour group and head south. Stop at the Waitomo Caves to explore a subterranean landscape illuminated by thousands of bioluminescent glowworms. Reach the tourist town of Rotorua, famous for its geothermal activity and strong Maori culture. You’ll delve into both its natural and cultural highlights with a full day of activities. Watch spouting geysers and boiling mud pools at Te Puia before learning about Maori traditions at the Maori Arts & Crafts Institute. Close out the day at the Agrodome Sheep Show, where you’ll learn about all things farming. Continue to the coastal city of Napier, where you’ll have a day at leisure to explore the wine region of Hawke’s Bay or enjoy the attractive downtown, known for its art deco architecture.
Ride the ferry to the South Island and connect to Nelson, which sits on Tasman Bay. A sightseeing cruise takes you into Tonga Island Marine Reserve to visit a fur seal colony and hike through beachside forest and along cascading waterfalls. Back on the mainland, continue to Punakaiki for a night to see the famous Pancake Rocks and Blowhole, known for the columns of water that burst through the rocks with the surf. Final stop is Franz Josef, the gateway to the famous glaciers of the Southern Alps. You’ll have a day at leisure to head on an excursion to the glacier or enjoy the alpine atmosphere of the town.
At the end of your stay, connect to Queenstown for onward travels.

Auckland to Rotorua via Waitomo
Travel south from Auckland, through the rich farmland of the Waikato, and onto Waitomo. Here you will enjoy a guided tour through the long galleries and lofty chambers of the world famous Glowworm Caves. Your tour continues with a boat ride through the Glowworm Grotto, illuminated by thousands of tiny lights from the glow worms suspended from the cave ceiling. Following your tour there is time for lunch (included). You will then continue to Rotorua by coach, where you will be transferred to your hotel.
