This 7-day group vacation to Australia showcases the natural wonders of the state of South Australia. The journey begins in Adelaide, the state capital, and arguably the most elegant city in the nation. A city tour unlocks local favourites before you connect into the Barossa Valley for a wine experience of some of the best wineries and cellar doors in the nation, including internationally renowned Jacobs Creek Estate. Onwards to Kangaroo Island, a biodiverse wonderland of fascinating geological formations, including Remarkable Rocks, and rare wildlife colonies.

After spotting your fill of fur seals and kangaroos in the wild, head back onto the mainland to stop in the picturesque seaside town of Victoria Harbour and explore the underground limestone world of the Naracoorte Caves. It’s then time to get your wine on again with a tour through the Coonawarra wine region before you connect to Tower Hill for an Indigenous tour of the landscape. This Australian group tour ends with a drive along the beautiful Great Ocean Road, one of the world’s best coastal drives, which takes you to natural landmarks including the Twelve Apostles.

June 14

Arrive Adelaide

G’day and welcome to Adelaide, meet with guide, before being transferred to our hotel for check-in.

This afternoon, experience the cosmopolitan life of Adelaide on this half day tour of Adelaide. The City is noted for its many festivals, its food, wine and culture and its long beach fronts. Discover superb architecture, cultural boulevards, surrounding park lands and wide streets and then you'll appreciate why we have been ranked as one of the most livable cities in the world. On our half day tour we will see the main sights and listen as we take you through the local history..

Tonight a welcome dinner at the hotel.

June 15

Adelaide Hills & Barossa Valley

The rolling Adelaide Hills and Barossa lay ahead of you today and you’ll have the opportunity to taste several their world-renowned wines! First stop is picturesque Hahndorf. Experience its charm and hospitality as you wander down the tree lined streets and take time to explore the quaint shops and even taste some of the town’s artisan produce.

We continue to the Barossa Valley and a tour of Seppeltsfield Wines, the only winery in the world to release a 100 year old single vintage wine each year. Our visit includes a Grand Insight tour and tasting before sitting down for a delicious Barossa style lunch (platters, cheese plate, 1 glass of wine per person).

After lunch, we enjoy one more stop to Jacobs Creek Estate to sample some of the their world famous wines before travelling back to Adelaide through the Barossa’s rolling hills.

After returning to our hotel, the rest of the day is at leisure.

June 16

Adelaide to Kangaroo Island

This morning we depart for Cape Jervis, where we catch the ferry over to Kangaroo Island.

Positioned 112 kilometres southwest of Adelaide, Kangaroo Island is Australia’s third largest island and is noted for its impressive variety of native wildlife. Stretching just over 150 kilometres, nearly half of the Island remains uncleared of native vegetation, providing a sanctuary for Australian Sea Lions, Short-beaked Echidnas, an endemic species of kangaroo and many others. In fact, the local wildlife is so unique, Kangaroo Island is often referred to as ‘Australia’s Galapagos’.

After arriving, our first day will include a brief stop at Frenchman’s Rock (weather/time permitting), before we continue to False Cape Wines, where we enjoy lunch and a wine tasting.  After lunch we continue on to our hotel, but there is time or one more stop – Kangaroo Island Spirits, a craft gin distillery, where a tasting is included.

We then continue on to our hotel, Dinner at the hotel is included.

June 17

Kangaroo Island

Today a full day touring the wonders of Kangaroo Island. We will visit Seal Bay, including a beach tour, and Raptor Domain, where we experience an “In Flight” Birds of Prey presentation.

After lunch, we continue our tour with Flinders Chase National Park - a wilderness covering nearly 200,000 acres. It is home to a wide array of wildlife species including rare Cape Barren Geese. In addition to the wildlife habitat, the park also protects important geological features and cultural heritage sites. The drive down to Cape du Couedic takes in some dramatic dune country with a complex fire history and an interesting range of vegetation types.

You will also visit Admirals Arch - a spectacular coastal grotto. On the headland above is a beautiful stone lighthouse where three light keepers and their families lived, maintaining a warning for ships. Another impressive stone structure had a different architect, The Remarkable Rocks, are huge natural granite sculptures, carved by relentless winds, rain and salt from the Southern Ocean.

Later, we return to our hotel, where dinner is included.

June 18

Kangaroo Island to Naracoorte

This morning we depart Kangaroo Island, as we travel by ferry back to Cape Jervis, before commencing our drive to Naracoorte.

Our journey takes us to the Fleurieu Peninsula, where we visit the seaside town of Victor Harbour. There is some free time for lunch (not included), before we continue on to Naracoorte.

June 19

Naracoorte to Warrnambool

This morning after breakfast we make our way to Naracoorte Caves, here you will experience a 30 minute guided walk through The Alexandria Cave, one of 28 limestone caves in this world heritage park.

We then continue to The Coonawarra wine region, where we stop at DiGiorgio Family Wines for wine tasting and a light lunch. Established in 1982, the winery is located on the terra rossa soil, which is famous for producing world-class red wines. After lunch, our tour continues into Mt Gambier to visit the mysterious Blue Lake. Next is Tower Hill State Reserve, the area was a rich food source for the Worn Gundidj people whose descendants retain links with this country. We are able to experience Tower Hill through an indigenous lens with a guided bush & nature tour.

Great Ocean Road

As we start towards Melbourne, we enjoy spectacular scenery that never ends as travel the Great Ocean Road…visit London Arch and Loch Ard Gorge, before continuing along the coast and seeing the amazing Twelve Apostles. These fascinating limestone formations tower 45 meters above the Southern Ocean. We drive through the quaint seaside towns of Apollo Bay where we stop for lunch and Lorne before finishing our tour in Melbourne.
